This Week at the Creek...

This Week at theCreek...

October 11, 2026

Hello Creekside Families!

I've missed seeing your children's smiling faces and cannot wait to see everyone tomorrow morning! I hope you all had a great fall break!

If your child ever rides a bus, please take the time to talk to them about good bus behavior. It is WILD! I cringe every time I see bus video. Our bus drivers are heroes for doing this job every day. We simply want to get every child home safely. No driver should spend time directing students to behave. We simply need them to sit with their backs against the back of the seat, as if they were buckled in with seatbelts. There should be no food, drinks, or toys out. There should be no throwing of anything, climbing across seats, etc. Please help us make our bus routes safer with great behavior on buses.

It's time for our annual pumpkin decorating contest. See Mrs. Norton's post for details. This is always one of my favorite activities as we see students create their favorite book characters with pumpkins.

We look forward to seeing your well-rested and smiling faces in the morning!

Hey Creekside!

Our Fall Festival is Tuesday night from 5:00-7:00. We still need candy! Our candy monster bins are super cute. Kids and adults can drop off bags of individually wrapped candy. Please help us fill the bins.

Thursday is a half-day for students. School will dismiss at 11:10. Teachers will be available for conferences until 6:00p.m. Please contact your child's teacher to schedule a time.

Students will return to school on Monday, October 12, 2026. Enjoy your fall break!

September 21-25, 2026

Hey Creekside! I hope everyone has rested up and recovered from last week! We loved seeing all the smiling faces as grandparents and parents had lunch with students. Homecoming, Cheer Clinic, Grandparents Week, Book Fair... It was all lots of fun and made for a jam-packed week!

Here are a few reminders:

  • If you eat lunch with your child, any outside food needs to be in a plain container. We can't have McDonald's, Chick-Fil-A, etc. packaging in the cafeteria. (Federal Reimbursable Status: If a school cafeteria permits open display and consumption of commercial fast food alongside their own meals, it can jeopardize their federal funding and nutritional status.)
  • IDs are required by ALL. Anyone who enters our building is required to show an ID. This allows us to print a visitor's pass. We have around 550 students, with students enrolling and withdrawing continuously. It should make everyone feel a bit better that part of our security plan is to always check IDs.
  • Transportation changes MUST go through the main office. Call the school office, 256-233-6452 and choose elementary for grades 3-5, to discuss any transportation changes for your child.

It's hard to believe that this is the last full week of the first quarter of school! This will be a busy week of learning. We want to ensure that every student receives whatever they need to learn the standards.

Next week, October 1st, is a half-day for students. We will spend the afternoon/evening meeting with parents to discuss student progress.

Let's have a great week at the Creek!

A BUSY 4 DAY WEEK FOR STUDENTS

Hello Creekside Families! We have lots of things happening this week, so grab a pen and paper so you can take note of all the things happening during this exciting week!

Priority Kids Date Change: Due to events taking place in both libraries this week, Priority Kids will begin next Monday September 21st instead of this week. Thank you for your understanding.

Wednesday, September 16th, students get a day off. It is a professional development day for teachers, so NO SCHOOL for students.

We are kicking off Book Fair Week and Grandparents Week tomorrow (Monday), along with some East Limestone Homecoming days.

If your child wants to participate in Homecoming Spirit Week, tomorrow is pajama day. (Remember that pajamas must meet dress code and tennis shoes or other school appropriate shoes should be worn.)

Tuesday is Hawaiian Day

Thursday is Decade Day

Friday is School Spirit Day.

It’s also Arts in Education week. Show Mrs. Underwood and Ms. Newton how much you love having art and music at Creekside!

Progress reports went home Friday. Make sure you go over reports with your child. Contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns. We have finished beginning of year testing and look forward to setting goals with your child to make this a terrific year of learning.

We are super excited about how well our Boosterthon Fundraiser went. Please encourage everyone who pledged to support your child to get those donations in quickly. Thank you to our AMAZING PTO for all they did to make this a successful fundraiser!

We're hosting PD for all elementary teachers and staff on Wednesday! We LOVE showing how awesome our kids are as others enter our building!

It's going to be a GREAT WEEK at the CREEK!
