Principal's Message
Happy National School Counseling Week!
This week, we celebrate the incredible counseling team at VCHS, who work tirelessly to support our students in their academic, college, and career journeys. A huge thank you to our dedicated counselors—Ms. Cook, Ms. Gonzalez, and Mrs. Brown—who guide students with care and expertise every day. We also appreciate the invaluable contributions of Mrs. Stolec (Registrar), Ms. Alicea (Guidance Tech), Mr. Tuttle (Intervention Teacher on Special Assignment), and Ms. Faith (School Psychologist), who work behind the scenes to ensure every student has the resources they need to succeed. If you haven’t had a chance to reach out and share the positive impact they’ve had on your student, please do so—they’d love to hear from you! Join us in saying a heartfelt "thank you!" to this amazing team for their dedication and support!

Attendance Class Awards- January!
Congratulations to Mrs. McGinnis' 1st period class for having the highest average daily attendance for the month of January! Students received our Jaguar 3 R's recognition cards and a sweet treat! Thank you Jags for coming to school every day!
Upcoming State Testing at VCHS: Preparing for Success
State testing is coming up soon, and we are excited for our students to showcase their learning and growth. As we shared earlier this year, you can access your student's previous test scores in the Infinite Campus parent portal. Standardized testing is an important opportunity for students to demonstrate their academic progress while also providing valuable data that helps us assess our school's instructional effectiveness. Additionally, for our juniors, state test results are used as part of the Early Assessment Program (EAP) for California State Universities, helping to determine college readiness in English and math. We appreciate your support in ensuring students are prepared, well-rested, and ready to do their best. More details on testing dates and expectations will be shared soon!

Parking Permit Reminder: Ensuring Campus Safety
A friendly reminder: Students must have a valid parking permit to park on campus. This policy is in place to ensure the safety of both students and our entire learning community. Students who park on campus without a permit may face consequences, ranging from Saturday School to having their vehicle towed off school property. Please take a moment to discuss your student's parking permit status with them today. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and orderly campus!
Around Campus
Jumping In: Jaguars Explore Track & Field
In the latest PE unit, our Jaguar students had the exciting opportunity to dive into the world of Track and Field! From sprints and hurdles to long jump, throws, and pole vault, each student had the chance to try out every event. Stepping out of their comfort zones, they discovered the thrill and challenge of pushing their limits, all while embracing the importance of trying something new. A special thank you to Xander Ortiz and Coach Cummings for their dedication and inspiring leadership, helping students not only improve their skills but also find joy in every jump, stride, and vault!
Keep up the great work, Jaguars! The spirit of trying new things is what makes PE so much fun!
Engaging ASL 1 Students in Expressive and Receptive Practice
ASL 1 students worked on a partner gap activity practicing terms relating to school, hobbies and sports. This activity gives students an opportunity to practice the vocab with a partner taking turns using their expressive and receptive language skills! They did a great job!
VCHS Earns National Recognition for Expanding Opportunities in Computer Science
Valley Center High School has earned the College Board AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science Principles (CSP), recognizing the school’s efforts to expand opportunities for young women in STEM. Led by Mrs. Paige Prosser, VCHS is one of only 847 schools nationwide to receive this honor during the 2023-24 school year. Female students who take APCSP are more than five times as likely to major in computer science in college, demonstrating the significance of this achievement in preparing students for future success. Congratulations, Mrs. Prosser and our AP Computer Science class students! Click here to learn more!
