From the Principal's Desk

October has been off to a wonderful start at Keyport High School! Over the past few weeks, our students have participated in two meaningful assemblies that encouraged reflection, awareness, and personal growth. We also held our first Peer Leadership Workshop, allowing students to strengthen their leadership skills, build connections with our ninth-grade students, and learn how to make a positive impact on our school community.

These experiences remind us that education extends beyond the classroom and that building character, fostering relationships, and supporting one another are essential parts of the high school experience.

As we move through October, our fall sports seasons are beginning to wrap up. We thank our student-athletes and coaches for their hard work, dedication, and school spirit throughout the season. Academically, progress reports were made available in the Parent Portal on October 14. We encourage families to review their child's progress and reach out to teachers with any questions or concerns.

As always, thank you to our staff, students, and families for helping make Keyport High School a place where everyone has the opportunity to succeed!

Once a Raider, Always a Raider: Celebrating the Class of 1976!

Keyport High School would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Class of 1976 for their generous donation of a beautiful new bench, proudly displayed in front of our school. This thoughtful gift serves as a lasting reminder of the strong connections and traditions that unite generations of Red Raiders. We are grateful for their continued support and commitment to the Keyport High School community.

We are also excited to welcome members of the Class of 1976 back to Keyport for tomorrow's football game! Their return is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Raider pride, reconnect with classmates, and recognize the lasting legacy of our alumni. No matter how many years have passed, Keyport will always be home. Once a Raider, always a Raider!

KHS Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness!

On October 7, Keyport High School came together for a special “Pink Out” Day in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Students, teachers, and staff proudly wore pink to show their support, raise awareness, and stand in solidarity with individuals and families affected by breast cancer. Throughout the building, shades of pink served as a powerful reminder of the importance of compassion, strength, and community.

The day was more than just wearing a color—it was an opportunity for our KHS community to come together for a meaningful cause. We are proud of our students and staff for demonstrating their support and helping spread awareness. Together, we stand strong, spread hope, and show that even small gestures can make a big difference!

Student Assessment Results Now Available in Genesis!

Keyport Public Schools is pleased to announce that Early Literacy Screening (DIBELS) and i-Ready Diagnostic results are now available for families to view through the Genesis Parent Portal! DIBELS results are available for students in Grades K–3, while i-Ready results are available for students in Grades 1–9, including Algebra I and Geometry Honors. Kindergarten i-Ready results will be available later in October. These assessments provide valuable information about student strengths, academic growth, and areas where additional support may be needed.

Families are encouraged to review their child's results by logging into the Genesis Parent Portal, selecting Documents, and locating the DIBELS and/or i-Ready Family Report. These reports help families better understand their child's progress and support continued learning at home. We appreciate our families' ongoing partnership in helping every Keyport student succeed!

Give Your Brain a Break!

Between schoolwork, sports, extracurricular activities, and social commitments, life can get pretty busy! As the school year picks up, it's important to remember that mental wellness is just as important as physical health. Taking short breaks throughout the day, spending time outdoors, listening to music, or simply stepping away from your phone can help reduce stress and improve focus. Even a few minutes of downtime can make a difference in how you feel and approach your day.

This month, challenge yourself to find a healthy balance between staying connected and taking time to recharge. Try putting your phone away before bedtime, spending quality time with friends and family, or finding an activity that helps you relax. Remember, you don't have to handle everything on your own! Reach out to a trusted teacher, school counselor, or family member when you need support. A healthy mind helps build a stronger, happier you!

Stay Healthy This Fall!

Powerful Messages for KHS Students

Keyport High School recently welcomed Timothy Shoemaker, in partnership with the Tigger Stavola Foundation, for an eye-opening assembly focused on making positive choices and understanding the impact our decisions can have on ourselves and others. Through an engaging presentation, students were encouraged to reflect on their actions, recognize the importance of making responsible decisions, and consider how their choices can shape their futures.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Tigger Stavola Foundation and Timothy Shoemaker for bringing this meaningful experience to our students. Opportunities like these reinforce the importance of awareness, personal responsibility, and supporting one another as members of the KHS community.
