Grizzly Families
Hey Grizzly Families,
What an amazing Homecoming week! Our students and staff went all out on celebrating this week. From Dress Up days, Zorbi Ball, Manly Man Volleyball, to our fabulous Homecoming Parade, it has been a great week. Our Homecoming football game tonight at 7pm against the Asotin Panthers will be awesome as well. Our students really love being Grizzlies and celebrating being a part of Newport!
No School On Monday!!! Our teachers will be at school working hard on Professional Development so students have the day off on Monday.
Senior Parents...Please check out the section below labeled "Class of 2027 Senior Updates". This is a section that will be there in every newsletter to keep you up to date and we move towards graduation this year.
I want to encourage all of you to check out our Newport High School Facebook page. It is a great place for information and more celebrations of our awesome Grizzly Family!

Art Field Trip
Our art students got a sneak peak of Terrain, Spokane's largest art event of the year. They were able to view over a thousand artworks from more than 500 artists. Senior Isabel Bartel had four pieces in the show and was also featured on the news! They're already looking forward to next year and are looking forward to submitting artworks of their own.
You can also view the KREM2 story that Isabel was interviewed in below. Thanks to Mrs. Tallman for providing an amazing opportunity for our students.
SBA & WCAS Score Reports
Parents of Juniors & Seniors
Grizzly Families,
Earlier this week, Newport High School sent home your student’s results from the Spring 2026 Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) and Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS). The SBA scores were for last years Sophomores and the WCAS scores were for last years Juniors. Please take some time to review these results with your student and talk about their progress, areas of strength, and opportunities for continued growth.
We appreciate your partnership in supporting your student’s success in science. NHS will continue to provide support, instruction, and opportunities for growth as we work together to help every student reach their full potential.
Thank you for your continued support of Newport High School and our students.

FINANCIAL AID IS OPEN — DON’T LEAVE MONEY ON THE TABLE!
The FAFSA/WASFA opened October 1. Apply even if you think you may not qualify! Aid can support
many eligible programs, including trades and apprenticeships, and some scholarships require an
application. Washington College Grant funding is one of the most generous in the nation. Some aid is limited, so apply early.
Complete the FAFSA | WASFA information & application
Seniors: Save your “successful submission” confirmation for your High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP).
NEED HELP WITH FAFSA or OTHER APPLICATIONS?
Please drop in!
Wednesday & Thursday, October 14–15 | 3:15–7:15 p.m. (Parent Teacher
Conferences)
Newport High School Library : Seniors and families can stop by for help with FAFSA and applications.
WHAT TO BRING FOR FAFSA
Students: Personal email, Social Security number, and a parent’s legal name, date of birth, and email for the invitation.

Kindly,

Cap & Gown Orders
Thank you to everyone who came to the Cap and Gown Meeting yesterday with the Jostens representative. If you missed this meeting, it is still your responsibility to order your Cap and Gown if you plan on walking in our 2027 Graduation Ceremony. Please call Stephanie Phillips at 509-447-2481 if you have any questions.
The only thing that we require you to have for the ceremony is the Cap and Gown Unit that currently costs $55 and is item #14 on the attached order form; although, you can order more senior gear if you want to. Note: if you wait longer than two weeks (Monday, October 12) to order, the price will go up as it will not be part of our bulk order.
There are two ways to order...
1. Jostens will be back next Monday, October 5th during lunch (11:51 am-12:26 pm.) If you order from them during this time, you will not have to pay for the handling fee. They will also accept payment plans if you are unable to pay in full.
2. You can order your cap and gown online at....
-Jostens.com
-shop your school's name (make sure you select the correct Newport High School)
-select Graduation/shop
-scroll all the way to the bottom and select shop all graduation products
-scroll all the way down and select cap and gown rental for $55
If you have any questions, please call Stephanie Phillips at 509-447-2481.
Accepted Wall
Seniors and Senior Parents...if you have been accepted to a 4 year college/university, 2 year college/university, trade school or the military, please fill out an "Accepted Form" and turn in to Mr. Bouldin so your name can go up on the wall. Students must turn in the form and present an acceptance letter in order to go up on the wall. Without both of those items completed, your name will not be added. We are good, but can't read minds...get those items to Mr. Bouldin in order to be celebrated.
