Principals' Update
Greetings MacArthur Families,
Happy Friday! Favorite Team Friday was a big success! Thank you to all who participated. We loved seeing so many teams represented from baseball, basketball, cheerleading, hockey, lacrosse, rugby, soccer, and so much more! As you saw in our earlier communication, we completed our first ALICE Drill of the school year today. In our conversations with students and staff, the drill was quick, quiet, and an important part of our learning day. Students did a wonderful job listening to their teachers and understanding that this is most important in regards to safety. Thank you to Officer Fleming, as well as other members of the Waltham Police Department, who supported this practice drill.
An extra special thank you as well for Ms. Jennifer Jurkiewicz, our amazing School Adjustment Counselor, for her work with classes in preparation for this practice. Ms. J. is such a valued member of our MacArthur Community, at all times, (both big and small), and we wanted to give her an extra special shout out for all of her support for students, staff, and families.
This Week: Picture Day is in the books. If your child was absent, please know that our fall makeup pictures will take place on 11/18. Spring Pictures will include both individual and class pictures. We will share the dates for these when solidified.
2nd Grade students enjoyed an enrichment program from MWRA entitled "Why Water's Worth It." This science program helped students understand the importance of water in our community. Thank you to Ms. Boudreau for her partnership in setting up this learning opportunity for our students.
Next Week: Students in Grades K-2 will take part in our traditional Fire Prevention Week activities coordinated by the Waltham Fire Department. Click here to learn more about an upcoming Fire Prevention event later this month. https://www.city.waltham.ma.us/fire-department/news/waltham-fire-will-be-participating-in-national-fire-prevention-week-october
Later this month: Back to School Night: 10/16/25 This special event will take place from 6pm - 7:30pm. Students and families are welcome to join us. Students will act as tour guides and share their school experience with you and your family. This special evening will provide opportunities to visit student classrooms, as well as visit the specialists and support staff. Please reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions regarding the event.
Wishing you and your family a wonderful weekend!
In Partnership,

Special Request: Please take some time to review the pictures below of the lost and found. Thank you for stopping by to pick up your children's belongings (or ask them to do so!) We strongly suggest families label all belongings, especially sweatshirts, jackets, and water bottles. These are the items most left behind.
