Many thanks to the Poling family for donating a "Buddy Bench" to Jackson's playground in memory of their son, Braden Poling. May many friends like Braden be made on this bench!

Jackson Families,

I can't believe this is the last week of the school year! We have a few special events left before your children are free to enjoy summertime so check out the dates below.

On a personal note, I'm retiring from public education this year, and I want to say thank you for our time together. My nearly 30 years of experiences in Lakewood as a teacher and administrator have been fulfilling, exciting and never boring!

I’ll treasure memories of all the children and families I've worked with and come to know over the years. It's been a great blessing and joy to work with your children and families along with the wonderful staff members in our learning community. To me, Lakewood is simply~home!

We're also saying happy retirement and best wishes to these exceptional ladies who have devoted many skills and talents at Jackson and around our district over many years. Congratulations to:

Mrs. Beth Vipperman - Cafeteria Cashier

And farewell to Mrs. Kim Pareso, Intervention Specialist, who is leaving us to continue teaching out west next year!

5/23 - 5th Grade Band Concert (6:30pm JIS gym)

5/24 - Fun Day (1-3pm)

5/25 - 5th Grade Celebration (1-2pm)

5/25 - Students' Last Day

5TH GRADERS ARE MIDDLE SCHOOL BOUND!

Our 5th Grade Celebration is Thursday, 5/25, in the gym at Jackson. Families may arrive starting at 12:30pm. The ceremony will begin at 1:00pm, and should take no more than 45 minutes.

Parking will be available in the main (east) and side (south) lots, and we ask that you enter the south doors (facing the softball field).

If you have questions, please contact the school office or your child's homeroom teacher.

2023-24 STUDENT PLACEMENT SURVEY

I'm leaving the survey open through the end of May so there's still time to complete the questionnaire and submit it for your student(s) who will be entering 3rd, 4th or 5th grade at Jackson Intermediate School next school year (2023-24).

CAMP INVENTION UPDATE!

If you're interested in having your child attend Camp Invention (flyer w/info below), please contact Dee Martindale about enrollment or cost at dmartindale@lakewoodlocal.org.

EXCITING NEWS! Jackson’s week of Camp Invention was just given a limited number of scholarships for families on a first come, first served basis. If you are interested in benefiting from $100 off the registration price, please contact Dee Martindale at dmartindale@lakewoodlocal.k12.oh.us.

Total price after this scholarship will be $160.

Camp Invention is developed for students entering grades K-6. This program is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to introduce your child to STEM concepts through engaging, hands-on challenges. As they move through four all-new experiences, campers collaborate with friends, grow their problem-solving skills and bring their creative ideas to life. Jackson Intermediate is offering the program this summer from July 24th through July 28th.
