A Note from the Principal's Desk

We are excited to see everyone this week for Curriculum night - Wednesday 28, 2024.

Thank you to all the families that attended the BACK TO SCHOOL BASH,. Thank you to the PTA for planning such a phenomenal event. A time was had by all attendees.

The MAP fluency assessment continues this week for students in grades K-3.

Also, a reminder regarding events approaching:

DCSD Monthly Tech Cafes for parents, Tuesday, August 27th at 6pm, see link below
Title I Annual Meeting, PTA Meeting & Curriculum Night - Wednesday, August 28th at 5 p.m. in the cafeteria (See agenda below)

Hawthorne ES Spirit Night at BUBBLE CREAM Wednesday, September 4th

Introduction of Hawthorne ES Staff (5:00-5:15)
ANNUAL TITLE 1 MEETING (5:15-5:45)
School-Wide PTA MEETING (5:45-6:15)

1st Session (6:20 pm-6:50 pm)
2nd Session (7:00 pm -7:30 pm)

At curriculum night, you will be required to:

• Facilitate teacher presentations regarding the DCSD curriculum
• Provide an outline for routines and expectations

Lastly, parents we want to continue have your presence and partnership in our school building and for field trips, please see DCSD's volunteer training and levels link below to support.

Morning & Afternoon Dismissal

Morning Arrival & Afternoon Dismissal

The drop-off times in front of the school are below:

7:00 am - Buses

7:05 am - Car Riders

7:45 am - Tardy bell

Morning announcements begin at 7:45.

Car riders:: When picking students up, parents should have the Hawthorne ES Car Rider Tag visible in their car. If the Car Rider Tag is not visible, parents are required to park, come into the building and provide Identification. Thank you for your patience as we simply want to keep your students' safe.

The pick-up times for dismissal are below:

Bus riders-2:25:pm; Car riders 2:35 pm (front of building after buses) & walkers (Side door)

Thank you in advance for your patience as we strive to ensure that your students are safe during arrival and dismissal during the first few weeks of school. 😊Thank you!

LUNCH FOR THE 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR

HES will have free lunch this year however, we still need your support with completing the Meal Application Information 2024-2025. Only 1 Application Needed per family:

Please ALL complete this application process even if you plan to bring lunch for your child daily or believe that you will not qualify. This is very important, this impacts funding for Title 1.
