What a great first week with our Huskies! 🐾

Thank you, Oakwood Families, for a fantastic first full week of school! It has been wonderful to see our students engaged in learning, building new friendships, and settling into their classroom routines. We are excited about all that this school year will bring and are grateful for your partnership in supporting our students and school community. Together, we know this will be an incredible year of learning and growth.

🚸 Morning Drop-Off and Dismissal 🚸 Morning Drop-Off and Dismissal

For the safety of all students, families, and staff, please use the designated crosswalks at all times when crossing the street. Morning traffic is especially busy, and crossing in the middle of traffic is unsafe. Please also remember that only PM Kindergarten and PM Transitional Kindergarten (TK) students may be picked up in the staff parking lot on Woodcreek Way. All other students should be picked up at the East Gate on Stonewood. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe during arrival and dismissal.

🍦 Ice Cream Challenge! 🍦 Ice Cream Challenge!

Mrs. Sotelo and Mrs. Castongia will celebrate the first Kindergarten–3rd grade class and the first 4th–6th grade class to reach 100% Online Data Confirmation with an ice cream party!
And there's even more to celebrate—when our entire school reaches 100%, every Oakwood student will enjoy a school-wide Otter Pop party!

Kindergarten Breakfast Supervision

To help our youngest Huskies have a safe and successful start to each school day, adult supervision will be provided for all Kindergarten students during breakfast from 7:30–8:00 a.m. every day, including Wednesdays.

Morning Routine:

  • After picking up breakfast, Kindergarten students should go directly to the two smaller Kindergarten tables.

  • Mrs. Ibarra will supervise students, help them open containers, and assist with clean-up.

  • At 7:55 a.m., Mrs. Ibarra will escort all Kindergarten students as a group to their classrooms (K1, K2, and on Wednesdays, Mrs. Corwin's class), ensuring they have adult supervision throughout the morning breakfast period.

Older Siblings:
Older siblings are welcome to help their Kindergarten sibling pick up breakfast and walk them to the Kindergarten tables. They may choose to sit with their sibling during breakfast or sit at another table. If they remain with their Kindergarten sibling, they may walk with the Kindergarten group to the classrooms at 7:55 a.m. before heading to their own classes.

We appreciate your support in helping us establish this new morning routine. Please remind your Kindergarten student to stay with Mrs. Ibarra and walk to class with the Kindergarten group each morning. This routine will help ensure a safe, smooth, and successful start to the school day for all of our Kindergarten students.

💻 Online Data Confirmation 💻 Online Data Confirmation

For the first time in six years, the majority of our Oakwood families have already completed their Online Data Confirmation—thank you! 🎉 If you haven't completed it yet, please take a few minutes to do so. We've included a 6-minute instructional video to help guide you through the process.

As the weather begins to change and temperatures fluctuate throughout the day, we ask for your support in ensuring that students come to school dressed appropriately.

Please make sure your child is wearing clothing that is suitable for both cooler mornings and warmer afternoons. Layered clothing is often helpful so students can adjust as needed. In addition, we ask that all students are appropriately covered in alignment with school expectations to ensure a safe and comfortable learning environment for everyone.
