A Note from Principal Eck A Note from Principal Eck

Dear Westmoor Families,

We had a great week at school! Our kickoff for Pack Meetings were a big success. It was wonderful to see our new Kindergarteners and new to Westmoor students meet their Pack Team and begin building those important connections.

Next week is a full instructional week, and we’re diving fully into our learning routines.

Don’t forget—our PTO Bulldog Bash is coming up on Saturday, the 20th. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic event and a great way to bring our school community together!

As always, feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. Wishing you and your family a relaxing and joyful weekend!

SEL Benchmark Assessments for Students in Grades 3-8

This year, teachers for Grades 3-8 have implemented a new Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program called Wayfinder. Wayfinder focuses on six Core Skills: Self-Awareness, Adaptability, Empathy, Collaboration, Agency, and Purpose.

Three times a year, students in grades 3–8 will take a benchmark assessment called Waypoints. The assessment takes about 20 minutes and provides an opportunity for students to reflect on their social emotional growth. It is not graded and does not affect your child’s academic record. Instead, it provides teachers, counselors, and administrators with valuable insights into our students’ strengths and priorities for our instruction. The results guide staff in tailoring our social emotional learning program to what our students need. For more information about Wayfinder, please click here.
