Greensview Weekly News 8.24.26
Dear Greensview Families,
What a wonderful first week back! It has been exciting to have our students filling the halls and classrooms again. While we know many children—and probably a few adults—are tired after a long first week, overall it was a great start to the school year. Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and support as everyone settles back into school routines.
Thank you as well to everyone who joined us for Parent Information Night. It was great to see so many parents and families in the building, connecting with teachers and learning more about the year ahead. Your partnership makes such a difference for our students.
Looking ahead, our first PTO meeting is August 27, and families can also find several important upcoming dates and reminders in this week’s newsletter.
Thank you for a terrific start to the year. Enjoy a relaxing—and hopefully dry—weekend!
Warm regards,
Jason Wulf

ABCDE Schedule for Special Areas for the year
Calendar - First two Months
For the safety of all students - PLEASE READ and FOLLOW the information in the links below.
"Stop, Drop, and Go" – Please Read Carefully (preview the map and details)
To help keep all of our students safe and traffic moving efficiently, please review the following procedures before the first day of school.
- Do not park on the north side of Langston Drive. This lane is designated as our Stop, Drop, and Go lane and must remain a continuously moving line of vehicles. Parking in this area creates congestion and safety concerns.
- Have a daily transportation plan. Please talk with your child before school about how they will be getting home each day. Teachers are not able to consistently monitor email during the school day, and last-minute transportation changes can be stressful for students. Whenever possible, establish a routine and keep it consistent.
- Practice independence before school starts. Help your child learn to:
- Carry their own backpack and belongings.
- Open and close the car door independently.
- Exit the vehicle safely and confidently.
- Remain in your vehicle. To keep the line moving, parents should stay in their cars while using the Stop, Drop, and Go lane. Staff members will be available to assist students as needed.
- Exit on the curb side only. For your child's safety, students should always exit the vehicle onto the sidewalk—not into the street. If needed, consider adjusting car seats or seating arrangements before school begins to make this possible.
Thank you for helping us create a safe, efficient, and positive arrival and dismissal experience for every Greensview student. Working together, we can keep traffic moving while ensuring the safety of all children.
Back to School Information for Families
It’s time to start getting ready for the 2026-2027 school year! Here’s what you need to know now to be ready for August!
Back-to-school forms (K-12) — available late July: Families of returning students will receive information in late July in order to complete back-to-school forms in PowerSchool. Families will need to complete the forms prior to the first day of the school year.
Back-to-school fees (K-12) — available late July: Families of new and returning students can log in to PaySchools Central in late July to pay any fees associated with their students and put funds on their lunch accounts. The student fee schedule approved by the Board of Education reflects the elimination of all student class and course fees for the 2026-2027 school year. The annual fees for the 2026-2027 school year include:
The optional Technology Protection Plan fee ($25) for students in grades K-12
Athletic fees at the middle school and high school levels
Student parking fees at the high school
Families wishing to purchase the optional Technology Protection Plan must complete the technology forms in PowerSchool AND pay the $25 fee in PaySchools Central before the first day of school for the 2026-2027 school year (August 12, 2026).
PTO
PTO Update and Important School Supply Information for the FALL
The district asked Greensview's PTO to order school supplies in bulk for ALL Greensview students! No more searching store after store for a certain color folder or buying a 5-pack of glue sticks when you only need one! For the discounted price of $25 per student, school supplies (except iPad accessories) are ordered in bulk and delivered right to your child’s classroom in time for the first day. In addition to the tremendous cost savings to Greensview families, this process helps create equity among our students and ensures everyone has just what they need to kick off the school year. Additional information will go out with teacher assignments on how to pay for your student's 2026-27 supplies.
Sunday 8/9: Kindergarten Playground Meet Up at 2pm
Tuesday 8/11: Meet the Teacher Popsicle Party
Immediately after meeting their new teachers, have your children stop by the playground for a quick popsicle with classmates
Wednesday 8/12: Back-to-School Parent Breakfast
After your children go in for their first day of school, stop by the PTO tent for coffee and a light breakfast. The tent will be set up on the lawn by safety town. Do NOT park on the north side of Langston for this event, as this lane is designated for stop, drop, and go only.
Volunteers Needed: The PTO would like to establish 1-2 parent volunteers per classroom to be a LEAD ROOM PARENT. Some of the room parent responsibilities include:
Coordination of the class basket for Fall Family Fun Night (collecting donations and putting the basket together- coming up October 2nd!)
Request and organize volunteers for 2 class parties through sign up genius and sending reminders as needed.
Coordination of a class art project for the Mane Event.
The LEAD ROOM PARENT role is a great way to support the teachers and communicate with other parents in your students' classroom. You will have support from us and the Greensview parent community!
Click HERE to sign up, or feel free to reach out to Leah Pickering or Tracy Kabealo (emails below) and we can get you slotted in!
Thank you so much for your support of the amazing work happening at Greensview!

Spirit Wear Site Now Open!
New year, new gear! Support the PTO and stock up on new Greensview and UA spirit wear. Online orders can be picked up at the school or sent home with your student. Check out our site to order: https://school-spirit-wear-greensview.cheddarup.com
Don't Forget PE Shoes!
A quick reminder to check your child’s schedule for physical education (PE) days. Please ensure they wear sneakers or athletic shoes on those days. Safe footwear prevents slips, protects toes, and allows your student to fully participate in all the fun, active games. Thank you for helping keep our kids safe and moving!
Bus Route Information (K-8)
This summer, Upper Arlington Schools is transitioning to a new transportation app called BusRight, available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The app allows families to view their student's bus route information and track the bus in real time.
Parents/guardians who requested transportation for their student will receive an email invitation on July 31 to create their BusRight account. You must accept the invitation and set up your account before you can access your student's bus information for the 2026-2027 school year.
Need help? Please use the contact below that best matches your question:
I didn't receive my BusRight email invitation: Contact the Transportation Department at 614-487-6477.
I'm having trouble accessing the app or viewing my student's route information: Email support@busright.com.
I have a question or concern about my student's assigned bus route: Email schoolbusquestions@uaschools.org.
Updated iPad Communication
As we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year, we want to share an important update regarding elementary iPad use. Over the past six months, the district reviewed our K–5 technology access using feedback from parents, teachers, and administrators. Our main goal is to prioritize active, meaningful learning and reduce unnecessary screen time.
Based on this review, elementary iPads will now stay at school for academic use and charging, rather than automatically coming home every day.
Here is what you need to know about how this change looks for your child:
Kindergarten through 2nd Grade: iPads will remain at school.
Grades 3 through 5: iPads will generally stay at school, but teachers have the flexibility to send them home when needed for specific assignments or projects.
Exceptions for Learning Needs: Students who require a device at home as part of an individualized learning plan will continue to have take-home access.
We know from your feedback that managing devices at home can sometimes add stress to your evenings. If a teacher does send an iPad home for an assignment, they will communicate with you in advance. The district is also suggesting the following home-use boundary guidelines to help manage and limit device use at home when one is brought home.
Public Space Only: iPads should be used and stored in common areas (kitchen, living room) rather than bedrooms to allow for easy supervision and focus.
Educational Purpose Only: The device is a digital school desk extension; if it is not being used for an active assignment communicated by the teacher, it should shut down and put away.
Digital Sunset: Families are highly encouraged to use the Lightspeed Parent Portal to disable internet access from 8:00 PM to 7:45 AM to protect bedtime routines and ensure the device is ready for school.
Thank you for your partnership as we work together to create a healthy, balanced learning environment for our students.
New Attendance Policy for 2026-2027
Based on changes in Ohio law and Upper Arlington Schools Board of Education policy, new attendance requirements will be in effect beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. These changes affect how schools track student attendance, when families receive notifications, and when districts must intervene to address attendance concerns.
The biggest change is that all missed time is counted — includes tardies, medical absences, pre-planned absences, non-school-sponsored activities and competitions, and Religious Expression days — toward chronic absenteeism. Parents/guardians may find information about the changes in attendance policy on our website.
Religious Expression Days
State law does allow a student’s parent or guardian to request up to three religious expression days for each school year without any academic penalty. Religious expression days may be used to take holidays for reasons of faith or religious or spiritual belief system or participate in organized activities conducted under the auspices of a religious denomination, church, or other religious or spiritual organization.
Parents/guardians must submit this form within the 14 school days after the start of the school year (September 1, 2026) to request up to three religious expression days for the 2026-2027 school year. Requests received after 14 days from the start of the school year will not be approved. For additional information, visit our website.
Looking for a flexible way to join the Upper Arlington Schools team? 🍎
We’re hiring part-time and substitute food service workers, and educational aides to support our school cafeterias, classrooms and playgrounds— and these roles fall within the school day schedule,
making them a great fit for anyone looking to work while students are in school.
You’ll be part of a friendly, team-oriented environment that helps fuel our students' learning every day.

Parent Information Night: Elementary Gifted Services
Elementary parents are invited to attend one of two Elementary Gifted Services Parent Information Nights in the coming weeks. These sessions are designed to help answer questions regarding gifted services, including gifted qualifications, gifted clusters, and Written Education Plans (WEPs). The same presentation will be provided on both nights, so please select the date that works best for you.
Monday, August 31: Jones Middle School auditorium, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, September 2: Hastings Middle School auditorium, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Dogs on School Property: Safety Reminder
While we know many students enjoy seeing their furry friends, dogs are not permitted on school property at any time, including during arrival and dismissal. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and comfort of all students and staff.
If you're walking your dog to school for pick-up or drop-off, please wait on the perimeter sidewalks off school grounds. Your child can meet you there at the designated dismissal area.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school environment safe for everyone!
