Dear Families,

There is no better place to be during the holiday season than an elementary school…excitement and joy surround us every day! We are thrilled that so many families could join us for the winter concert on Wednesday. Our students did an incredible job! We are so grateful to the talented Ms. Pesa for leading such a special performance, and we can’t wait to see what is in store for the K-2 concert in the Spring. Please see the important updates below:

Tuesday, December 12th is a half-day with dismissal at 11:50 am.

One of our school’s most loved traditions, The Holiday Shop, will take place this Wednesday and Thursday in the Library! A schedule and important information can be found here: Schedule and Info Students’ envelopes will be sent home tomorrow. We want to make sure that all of our Wessagusset friends are able to experience the magic of our Holiday Shop! If your child is absent from school on their shopping day, you can send in their envelope/list with their sibling OR drop off your child’s list/envelope at the cart in front of the main doors and our Parent Council volunteers will shop for them. Please make sure your child’s full name and homeroom are listed on the envelope, along with the name, age and gender of each person so that our shoppers can pick out some great gifts! We will reach out to let you know when your bag is ready.

We will be having an all-school spirit day on Friday, December 22nd: Pajama Day! Students can wear pajamas or comfy clothes.

Report cards and progress reports for Grades 1-5 will be available on Friday, December 22nd. This year in addition to digital copies in Aspen, your child will be bringing home a paper copy of their report card and/or progress report, along with a signature page for you to sign and return.

For the next few weeks, we will be sharing information about each of the 5 essential components of reading instruction. This week we are focusing on#3 - Fluency. Fluency is the ability to read as well as we speak and to make sense of the text without having to stop and decode each word. Fluent readers are able to read orally with appropriate speed, accuracy, and proper expression. Here are some great ways to practice reading fluency at home: Fluency at Home

Kindergarten registration for next year will be opening soon so to prepare for sibling placements we are asking you to take a moment to fill out this brief survey. Given rising enrollments in classrooms across the district, the knowledge of siblings is more important than ever to prepare our classes. Parent Council Corner

Grade level representatives have been determined as a way to broaden the communication between the parent council and the parents / guardians of our Wessagusset students. If you have not been receiving emailed communications from your child's grade level rep and would like to, please get in touch with your child's grade level rep using the contact information below. Please provide the appropriate grade level rep with your contact information so that you may begin receiving important information regarding events, opportunities and plans related to your child(ren). Contact information can be found below.

This year's holiday shop will be held on Wednesday 12/13/23 and Thursday 12/14/23. Your child(ren) will be coming home with a shopping list and an envelope. Please help your child(ren) make a list of up to 10 family members, friends, pets that they would like to shop for and enclose $1 per gift item to be purchased. Cash or checks payable to “Wessagusset Parent Council”.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated gifts to make the holiday shop a success. Thank you to the Martin family and the Robbins family for donating over three thousand paper bags for gift wrapping.
