- Students cannot bring their backpack or phone to the bathroom during class. If there is a medical need students can discuss these exceptions with their teachers.

Library Services Update
LHISD values our partnership with parents when it comes to educating students. In order to strengthen this partnership, we have added some features to our library management system, Follett Destiny, that will allow parents to view and set boundaries on the subjects and titles of books they would like their children to be able to check out through the library. Parents now have access to Destiny Parent Controls–enabling them to access their child’s library information (checkouts, overdue materials, etc.) as well as navigate the features detailed here. If you need help with access or how it works, please contact your campus librarian. You can find more information on our District Library Services website about all of the work our librarians do and how we partner with parents and the community. Thank you.

Personal Communication Device Policy
HB1481: Student Device Use Restricted
Beginning this school year, Texas House Bill 1481 requires all public school districts to restrict student use of personal communication devices — such as phones, smartwatches, earbuds, and tablets — during the school day.
Liberty Hill ISD is following this state-mandated law by asking students to keep devices powered off and put away during instructional time, hallway transitions, and lunch periods.
This change supports a more focused learning environment, reduces distractions, and encourages face-to-face engagement between students and staff.
Learn more and view our policy & FAQs: https://www.libertyhill.txed.net/HB1481
Dress Code & Student Code of Conduct
Dress Code & Student Code of Conduct
Every student is expected to follow the LHISD Dress Code & Student Code of Conduct everyday.
2025 - 2026 Student Code of Conduct
TEA: Overview of Student Discipline in Texas
Here are some highlights of the dress code:
#5 -Students’ faces must not have any facial hair.
#6 - Piercings are allowed in the ears, but gauges are prohibited. A small nostril stud piercing is allowed but bridge and septum piercings are prohibited. All other facial piercings are prohibited.
This means that hoop nose rings are prohibited
#8 - Tops must meet the beltline and should not expose the midriff at any time.
If students are out of dress code, Administration will ask the student to change. Change of clothes will be available in the front office. If dress code violations persists, students will be assigned additional consequences.
Friendly Reminders
Here are some Important reminders about student pick up and food delivery services. Please note that a change in the Parent / Student Handbook requries parents to submit a note to the school before an 18 year old student can sign themselves out.
Parent Opt-In Information
SB12 Annual Notification of Health-Related Services and Parental Consent - Action Item: Complete Opt In or Opt Out Form
In accordance with the *new* Texas Senate Bill 12, Liberty Hill ISD is providing this notice to inform you of the health-related services available to students during the upcoming school year. SB 12 specifically states that parents must now provide consent for their child to receive any nursing or medical services at school. This includes routine care such as temperature checks, administering over-the-counter medication, or basic first aid. As part of this new mandate, parents have the opportunity to opt in or opt out of campus-based health-related services for their child.
To comply with legislative requirements, we ask that you acknowledge receipt of this notice by completing the form at the following link: 2025-2026 Health Services Annual Parent/Guardian Consent
If you choose to opt out of these services, and your child becomes ill or sustains an injury during the school day, the campus nurse will not be permitted to assess or provide care.
Emergency Situations: In the event of an emergency or if someone requires life-saving measures, staff are authorized to provide assistance to the student.
Services that campuses may include (but are not limited to):
Acute Care: Providing immediate care for illnesses and non- life threatening injuries. (i.e, taking temperature, cleansing a scrape & applying a bandaid, assessing stomach ache, headaches)
Chronic Disease Management: Assisting students with chronic conditions like asthma or diabetes in managing their health, administering medications, and developing individualized healthcare plans (IHPs).
Medication Administration: Administering both prescribed and over-the-counter medications as per the physician's orders and with parental consent.
Preventive Care: Providing or coordinating preventive care, like state-required immunization reminders and resources.
Promote health education on topics like nutrition and hygiene.
Care Coordination: Collaborating with physicians, families, and school staff to ensure comprehensive care, advocacy, and communicating health information effectively. (i.e., ensuring all staff are aware of the child's medical needs and the support needed throughout the school day).
Health Education: Educating students and parents on various health topics, including disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, and managing chronic conditions.
Mental Health Support: Provide first-aid care and crisis intervention, then partner with and transfer care to the campus counseling department for further support if warranted.
Identifying and Addressing Health Barriers to Learning: Recognizing health problems that may be impeding a student's educational progress and partnering with education staff in developing plans to address them. (i.e, participating, advocating in IEP/504 meetings)
Referrals to Community Resources: Connecting students and families with community healthcare providers and social services.
If you have questions about the health‑related services available at your child’s campus or wish to request additional information, please contact us at healthservices@libertyhill.txed.net
We remain committed to supporting your child’s health, safety, and well-being in partnership with you.
Counseling Services Notification & Screener Consent
In accordance with newly passed legislation (SB12), the District must notify parents of school counseling services and give parents the opportunity to opt out before those services are provided to their child. Consent and opt-out selection given through this form is effective during the current school year unless rescinded earlier.
School counseling services are more fully explained in board policy FFEA, and student mental health is covered in board policy FFEB. Information about threat assessments can be found in board policy FFB.
All District employees:
Shall report alleged abuse or neglect of a student as required by law; and
May verbally inquire about a student’s daily well-being without parental consent.
District employees and contractors will not provide assistance with social transitioning.
Under state law, a child may consent to counseling for themselves as it relates to suicide prevention; chemical addiction or dependency; or sexual, physical or emotional abuse.
A parent may not opt-out of the following:
School district emergency responses;
Law enforcement or Department of Family and Protective Services activities;
Behavioral threat assessment required by law; or
Other rights or duties required by law, including the Texas Family Code.
ROUTINE COUNSELING SERVICES
State law requires school counselors to provide the following services as part of a Comprehensive School Counseling Program:
A guidance curriculum to help students develop their full educational potential, including the student's interests and career objectives. Guidance lessons can be found on each campus website under the tab Parent and Students then Counseling Services
A responsive services component to intervene on behalf of any student whose immediate personal concerns or problems put the student's continued educational, career, personal, or social development at risk.
An individual planning system to guide a student as the student plans, monitors, and manages the student's own educational, career, personal, and social development.
System support to support the efforts of teachers, staff, parents, and other members of the community in promoting the educational, career, personal, and social development of students.
The following services are routinely provided by either school counselors, school counselor interns, or licensed school mental health counselors:
Advise students and their parents regarding the importance of postsecondary education, coursework designed to prepare students for postsecondary education, and financial aid availability and requirements;
Early mental health prevention and intervention;
Building skills related to managing emotions, establishing and maintaining positive relationships, and responsible decision-making;
Substance abuse prevention and intervention;
Suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention;
Grief-informed and trauma-informed practices;
Positive school climates, meaning the quality and character of school life, including interpersonal relationships, teaching and learning practices, and organizational structures, as experienced by students enrolled in the District, parents of those students, and personnel employed by the District;
Positive behavior interventions and supports;
Positive youth development; and
Safe, supportive, and positive school climate.
PARENTAL CONSENT
Under state law, an employee or contractor of the District must obtain the written consent of a child’s parent before the employee or contractor may conduct a psychological or psychiatric examination or test, or psychological or psychiatric treatment (“mental health-related services”), unless the examination, test, or treatment is required under law. These terms are defined by law:
“Psychological or psychiatric examination or test” as a method designed to elicit information regarding an attitude, habit, trait, opinion, belief, feeling, or mental disorder or a condition thought to lead to a mental disorder, regardless of the manner in which the method is presented or characterized, including a method that is presented or characterized as a survey, check-in, or screening or is embedded in an academic lesson.
“Psychological or psychiatric treatment” means the planned, systematic use of a method or technique that is designed to affect behavioral, emotional, or attitudinal characteristics of an individual or group.
Under state law, before administering a student well-being questionnaire or health screening form to a student, the District will provide a copy of the questionnaire or form to the student’s parent and obtain the parent’s consent to administer the questionnaire or the form. Below are forms routinely used by school counselors, school mental health counselors, school counselor interns or school psychologists.
The Columbia Suicide Severity Risk Screener is only used with individual students who are referred for possibly expressing suicidal thoughts or self-harm behaviors. Parents will also be contacted after the screening is complete and given a copy of any screener completed
Should the District recommend additional mental health care or the completion of a form or questionnaire not attached, the form will be provided to the parent and consent obtained before the form or services are provided to the student.
It is standard practice for campus counselors to seek a separate consent for participation in small groups or for regular time-limited and goal-directed individual counseling.
LHISD kindly ask for the notification form below to be reviewed and completed as soon as possible
LHHS -Parent Notification and Consent Form
(Please complete a form for each child who attends this school)
Club Opt-In Form
The State of Texas now requires parental/guardian consent before a student may participate in any school club. At LHHS, we offer many different clubs, and we understand that completing a separate consent form for each one could be overwhelming.
To make the process easier, we will be using THIS FORM to collect parental consent for your child to participate in any club. Simply check the boxes for the clubs you approve for your child. You may edit your response at any time. You can also choose to check the box giving consent for your child to participate in all LHHS clubs. It is important that a parent/guardian fills this form out and not a student.
Whenever a new club is added, the form will be updated accordingly. This link will also be included in the weekly Parent Newsletter, and you may receive it directly from club sponsors as well.
Thank you for your support in helping our students get involved in campus activities.

Attendance
Top 10 Things to know about Attendance in LHISD
Students who are absent from class for more than 10% class period-15 minutes or more-will be counted absent for that class period, regardless of when the time is missed. To have the absence considered excused, an attendance note must be submitted to the campus within 2 school days of the absence. (see Excused vs. Unexcused)
All students who arrive late or leave early must be signed in/out at the front office. If the school bus is tardy, the student will not be penalized.
Leaving Early: Parents cannot check out their child the last 15 minutes of the day. Leaving School early can be as detrimental to a child’s education as being tardy.
If you notice an absence is incorrect and the student was IN CLASS, the student should email your teacher to update your attendance.
Students who have 10 or more parent notes in a semester are considered Excessively Excused and parent notes will no longer be accepted.
If You have 10 or more full/part days of UNEXCUSED absences,you are. considered TRUANT. Making up time does NOT eliminate truancy.
A Student who is absent for more than 3 consecutive days because of a personal illness must bring a statement from a doctor or health clinic verifying the illness or condition that caused the absence. Otherwise , the absence may be considered unexcused and in violation of compulsory attendance law.
ALL absences require a note within 2 school days of returning to school. If no documentation is provided, the absence will be unexcused.
A student absent because of a serious or life-threatening illness that makes school attendance not possible, must provide a certification from a physician specifying the illness and the anticipated start and end date that the student will be absent due to the illness.
Students who are 18 years old may check themselves out of school; however, a parent or guardian must still notify the school in advance in order to avoid a disciplinary consequence.
Hours Owed, Make-Up Hours, and Saturday School
In Section 25.092 of the Education code it states that a student may not be given credit for a class unless the student is in attendance for at least 90% of the days a class is offered. This part of the law is commonly referred to as the 90% Rule.
Students are in violation of the 90% Rule after missing 5 or more class periods in one or more classes in a Semester. ALL absences, including excused absences not exempted by the law count toward the 90% Rule.
To be awarded credit, your student must make arrangements with their assistant principal to make up time outside of the normal school hours. If the required hours are not made up within the established time, your student will have to repeat the course. Senior students will not participate in the May graduation ceremony if required hours are not made up prior to graduation day.
The Texas Education Code also requires that a student must meet the 90 percent requirement in order to obtain or renew a driver's license. Students must make up the required time and maintain good attendance for a 6 week period following their loss of credit.
Student can restore held credits by:
Attending Saturday School
Attending before or after school tutorials
Up to 50% of make up hours can be done by volunteering at a non profit organization (requires Assistant Principal pre approval)
*Note if a student has 10 or more days or partial days of unexcused absences, the student is considered truant and making up attendance hours does not eliminate the truancy.
If extenuating circumstances exist, and you wish to appeal the decision regarding your make-up hours, please complete the appeal form.

CTE
MLB Guest Speaker
This week, our Entrepreneur classes had the incredible opportunity to hear from former 14-year MLB player Matt Kata.
Matt shared stories from his professional baseball career, the lessons learned along the way, and how those experiences shaped his transition into his current role as a commercial lender with a major bank.
One of his most impactful takeaways was his now-famous A.C.E. philosophy — Attitude, Concentration, Effort — a mindset that guided him both on the field and in life, and continues to shape the person he is today.
