Allen ISD Board Calls for Bond Election this November Allen ISD Board Calls for Bond Election this November

Following the recommendation of Project Kids, the 81-member citizen advisory committee, the Allen ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to call a bond election for November 5, 2024.

The proposal will impact every campus in Allen ISD. Specific projects include, but are not limited to, the following items:

  • Safety and security updates at our campuses, including upgrades to security cameras, camera systems with weapon detection capabilities, intruder alert systems, central lockdown enhancements, reconfiguration of main entrances at campuses that do not have secure visitor entrances next to the main office, and replacement of AEDs, fire panels, fire alarms, and fire suppression systems that have reached end-of-life at our campuses.

  • Maintenance and efficiency upgrades at various campuses to replace flooring, wall coverings, lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and other maintenance items that experience wear and tear in the 15-17 years between campus update cycles. Materials with longer-lasting finishes and greater efficiency would be used in the updates.

  • Updates to learning spaces at various campuses. As part of the 2020 bond election, several campuses received major renovations to align learning environments with the community-driven standards set forth in the SOAR 2030 strategic plan. This same approach would be implemented at the following campuses to provide even more students with a similar educational experience: Curtis Middle School, Ford Middle School, Olson Elementary, Cheatham Elementary, Green Elementary, Norton Elementary, and Anderson Early Childhood School.

  • Technology improvements for devices and infrastructure, including computer devices for students, WiFi network upgrades on campus, and classroom media stations.

  • Transportation updates, including replacement of buses that will reach the end of their useful lifespan, and replacement of transportation hardware and software to address student safety in real-time.

The total price of the bond proposal is $447,499,700, and Allen ISD can fund all of the projects in the 2024 bond proposal using the existing tax rate. Allen ISD’s tax rate has not increased in the last decade and is at its lowest point since 1993. Some projects, including efficient maintenance items, will reduce utility costs incurred annually in the District’s operating budget. Furthermore, Allen ISD has a proven track record of delivering bond projects on time and on budget.

More information about the 2024 bond election will be shared with community members over the coming weeks and months, including community presentations and a dedicated bond website.

New Safety & Security Measures Announced for Eagle Stadium New Safety & Security Measures Announced for Eagle Stadium

Dear Allen ISD Families,

It was just a few months ago that we hosted a packed house at Eagle Stadium to cheer on our graduating Senior Class of 2024. Summer flew by, and now we’re ready to host football scrimmages, and then our varsity football season opener on Aug. 30. Eagle Stadium has been THE gathering spot for our Allen community for more than a decade, and we look forward to creating even more iconic moments this school year.

With our community in mind, Allen ISD continually reviews its safety procedures to promote a safe and enjoyable experience for all stadium guests. Following collaborative discussions with the Allen Police Department, Allen ISD is announcing a new set of security guidelines for all future football games and events at Eagle Stadium. These new safety protocols will be implemented at the freshman scrimmage on Aug. 15, 2024:

Entrance Procedures

All attendees will be required to pass through a metal detector upon entry, and the previously established Clear Bag Policy for all guests at Eagle Stadium will remain in place.

  • Home Side Seating
    • Guests with Home Seating tickets must enter on the home side of the stadium. Crossover between home and visitor sides will not be permitted pregame or during the game.
  • Visitor Side Seating
    • Guests with Visitor Seating tickets must enter on the visitor side of the stadium. Crossover between home and visitor sides will not be permitted pregame or during the game.
  • Student Section Seating
    • Students with a “Student Section” ticket, which will be red in color, may only enter the Stadium through Gate B.
    • If a family has Season tickets, a 9th-12th grade student may use that Season ticket along with their Trust Sticker on their Digital Minga ID to gain entry into the Student Section. Season ticket holders may enter the stadium in any gate on the home side. No re-entry to the Student Section is allowed if a student leaves the Student Section.

Student Tickets

  • The Student Section is designed for students in grades 9-12 and will be held in sections 112, 113, 114 and 115 and surrounding concourse areas.
  • Student Section seating and surrounding concourse areas will be cordoned off from other areas of the stadium. The Student Section will have dedicated bathrooms and concession stands.
  • Students must present their Trust Card/Minga Pass upon entrance to the Student Section, which will be supervised by campus administrators and security personnel.
  • No re-entry is allowed if a student leaves the Student Section.
  • Online sales for Student Section tickets will close at 3 p.m. on game day. Student Section tickets will not be sold at the gate.

Middle School Students

  • The Student Section is designed for students in grades 9-12 only.
  • Middle school students should sit with their parents or other trusted adult.

In addition to these new safety measures, Allen ISD will provide additional administrative stations throughout the Stadium, and stricter enforcement of behavior policies will be followed.

More information will be shared soon with our volunteers who support the various teams and programs during events at Eagle Stadium.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we implement these new safety measures this season. Our goal, as always, is to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for our Allen supporters, our visiting guests, and all student participants on the field and in the stands.

Thank you, and Go Eagles!
