Dear Providencia Families,
🙌 A Huge THANK YOU from Apex
We know how much you juggle each day, and we truly can’t thank you enough for making time to support our Apex Fundraiser and Fun Run! Your kind donations and encouragement made all the difference — this program wouldn’t have been possible and successful without YOU!
📈 Current Totals
As of Friday morning we are on track to raise $30,000 for our school — amazing!
Also, 42 students hit the $10/unit mark, meaning our school helped give a donation on your students behalf up to 42 times to children at St. Jude!
🎉 Principal Challenge Plan:
Apex is still waiting on donations to be confirmed so we will keep you posted if we made our goal of having Principal Celeste and the Providencia staff do a Homerun Derby at lunch so please stay tuned!
Our Final Leaders Are:
🏅 Top Fundraising Class: Coach King
🏅 Top Sharing Class: Coach Colvin Marvin
THANK YOU again Providencia Community for your generosity and for cheering on our children and volunteering at the Fun Run!
Respectfully,
Principal Celeste

Hispanic Heritage Month
Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to reflect on the importance of Hispanic and Latiné culture. Additionally, it’s a time to celebrate and grow together while supporting our Hispanic community.
Hispanic Heritage Week began in 1968 in the United States, when President Lyndon Johnson signed Hispanic Heritage Week into law. Then, in 1988, the celebration expanded into a month when President Ronald Reagan signed National Hispanic Heritage Month into law.
Specifically, Hispanic Heritage Month starts on September 15. That’s because September 15 is Independence Day for five Latin American countries. In 1821, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua declared their independence.
Now, we celebrate the month-long holiday of Hispanic culture, from September 15 through October 15. During this time, you can enjoy festivals, dances, concerts, parades, and more. Also click here to Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month with the following lessons, activities, videos, and more.

September is Attendance Awareness Month
September is National Attendance Awareness Month. While every month is essential for maintaining consistent attendance, September gives us an added opportunity to remind families of the significance of consistent school attendance. We challenge every student to be an Attendance H.E.R.O. (Here. Everyday. Ready. On-time.)
Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10% or more of school days (or two days per month) due to any reason—excused or unexcused absences.
But these seemingly minor absences accumulate over time. By the time a child reaches their senior year, two days a month equates to missing an entire school year! Each day absent from school means a missed opportunity to learn, to grow, and to connect. Teaching and learning is a continuous journey, where today's lesson builds on yesterday's. When a child misses a class, they're not just missing out on that day's topic but potentially setting themselves up for future struggles.
Life might throw a curveball in the form of an illness or an unforeseen event. While we understand that not all absences can be prevented, our joint efforts, understanding, and proactive planning can indeed minimize them. We look forward to working together alongside our staff, families, and community to ensure all of our students can be Attendance H.E.R.O.s!

School Site Council Members Needed
The School Site Council (SSC) is the group of elected staff and parents/guardians that help develop, evaluate and update Providencia’s Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). SSC members discuss goals and actions to raise the academic performance of all students and provide input on our Comprehensive School Safety Plan.
Our virtual meetings are held once a month on the second or third Mondays of each month from 3:00-4:00 pm, and all are welcome to attend. This year we have 5 open spots on our School Site Council. It is a two-year commitment (unless you are a 5th grade parent, you only need to commit for 1 year). If you are interested in joining the SSC and/or would like to nominate someone, please click on the SSC Nomination Form no later than Sun., Sept. 15. Once names are collected, a voting ballot will be sent out. Thank you!
