Gamesgiving!
We are excited to partner with our PTO to offer a game night with your family and then you can continue supporting our school by eating out at Portillos for our restaurant night. Please mark your calendars and be sure to RSVP so that we can prepare for your family.
Message From Band!
Hey, Band! The Great Turkey Tune Up practice challenge is here for November! Students who can perform all the songs well will be recognized in an awards ceremony after fall break and earn a prize. This is a great way to prepare for our December 14th Winter Concert. Good Luck and Gobble Gobble!

Wasco Expectation - Work Hard
During the month of October, our staff will focus on our expectation to Work Hard. We believe students grow as learners when they are willing to try, persevere through challenges, and take ownership of their learning.
Throughout the month, classrooms will take time to explicitly teach, re-teach, and reinforce behaviors that demonstrate working hard across a variety of settings and situations. All staff will provide specific, timely feedback to help students develop the skills they need to stay focused, persevere, ask for help, learn from mistakes, and give their best effort. We will remind students that working hard does not mean everything will be easy; it means being willing to keep going when learning becomes challenging.
Our goal is to create a school community where every student understands what it means to Work Hard and feels confident knowing that effort, perseverance, and growth are valued just as much as the final product.
Questions families can ask at home:
- What was something that was challenging for you today? What did you do when it got hard?
- When you didn't know how to do something, what did you try?
- What is something you are getting better at because you keep practicing?
- How did you show your best effort today?
Severe Weather Drill
Next week, it is our intention to practice what we would do in the event of severe weather. Tentatively planned for Monday, November 9th, our students will line the hallways to stay safely away from hazards, such as exterior windows. Our school's unique layout creates a bright and inviting learning environment, but it's a difficult school to find places without glass hazards. As a result, we'll be in some tight quarters to rehearse this drill. If you're able to have a discussion with your student(s), it would go along way to help them feel prepared and understand the importance of our drill. Thank you for your partnership!
