Take 5 with Dr. Friedman
Welcome to the Take 5 Takeover! My name is Maggie Wilson, I am a 12th grade student at Quakertown Community High School and I could not be more excited to be participating in the field study program with Mrs. Hartney (our district's Communications Director). I am a part of many clubs at the high school and love watching all my peers doing so many amazing things everyday. Whether you are a parent, or a student reading this, I would like to introduce the first ever Take 5 Takeover— QCHS edition!
I’ll be cover homecoming week at the high school, how we are celebrating our seniors, a Thanksgiving food drive, the amazing field study and pathways program (just look at what I get to do!), and how students are being prepared for college in the future readiness office.
Have a wonderful weekend - and thanks for Taking 5!
1. Homecoming Week
This year’s homecoming celebrations bring school spirit to a whole new level! From themed spirit days to the big game and dance, students showed what pride and unity truly look like; students and teachers came together to celebrate tradition, teamwork, and the heart of our community.
Congratulations to the 2025 homecoming court! Each member represents the values of leadership, kindness, and school spirit. The court’s participation adds an extra touch of excitement and tradition to homecoming celebrations. The King and Queen will be crowned during Friday’s football game at halftime.
Despite challenges, the Quakertown Panther football team will be playing Chester High School tonight at 7 p.m.. Come show your panther pride for the 2025 homecoming game!
The homecoming dance will wrap up the weekend in style, on Saturday, October 25th at 7 p.m. Tickets were sold during lunches ahead of time, no tickets will be sold at the door. Laughter, photos, and dancing will fill the night as students come together to celebrate friendship and school spirit.
2. Senior Night Spotlight
Fall has been full of emotion and pride as we celebrate senior nights across all fall sports and activities. From tennis courts to football fields, seniors were honored for their dedication, leadership, and commitment. Families, teammates, and coaches shared heartfelt moments recognizing years of hard work and Panther pride.
Senior Night served as a special farewell for our girls tennis team, who displayed incredible teamwork and determination all season long. Their effort on and off the court has set a strong example for future players—congratulations on a successful season! Under the lights, our girls soccer team celebrated their seniors in style. With teamwork, energy, and heart, they’ve represented our school with pride. Their leadership has built a legacy that will inspire next year’s team to keep the momentum going. The boys soccer team sent off their seniors with a thrilling night of competition and camaraderie. Every player gave their all, showing that dedication and teamwork define what it means to be a Panther.
Congratulations to all the seniors on an amazing run! Field hockey’s Senior Night recognized the athletes who’ve spent countless hours perfecting their skills and uplifting their teammates. The seniors’ energy and sportsmanship have left a lasting mark on the program. Friday’s Senior Night football game was more than just a matchup—it was a celebration of commitment and spirit. Football and cheer seniors took their final bows on the field, surrounded by family and fans who’ve supported them every step of the way. Their hard work and enthusiasm have been the heart of every Friday night. The band closed the fall season with powerful performances that filled the stadium with Panther pride. Senior musicians were recognized for years of dedication, creativity, and rhythm that brought every game to life. Their passion will echo long after their final performance.
3. Thanksgiving Food Drive
As the season of giving approaches, the Key Club is hosting a Thanksgiving Food Drive! They are collecting:
We are collecting until November 2nd in boxes across the school. Every donation helps families in our community enjoy a warm holiday meal—thank you for giving back!
4. Field Study / Career Pathways Program
Students interested in exploring Career Pathways can still apply for a field study in the spring semester— the deadline to submit a contract is October 30th! The semester-based experience lasts 18–19 weeks and must include a minimum of 20 unpaid hours for 0.5 credits. Students must log their hours, and will submit a reflection through canvas at the end of the semester. Juniors can complete one placement per semester, while seniors may complete two.
Stop by the Pathways office during periods 2–6 or email the coordinators Mrs. Neilson or Mr. Banas for help—your future starts here!

5. Future Readiness: College Visits
College visits have taken on a whole new look this year, and it’s been a major success! Instead of single-rep meetings, students now attend admissions panel discussions featuring multiple colleges, trade schools, and military representatives at once. This new format allows students to engage in meaningful conversations, ask insightful questions, and practice essential communication skills. Participation has skyrocketed, and it’s inspiring to see students confidently shaking hands, making connections, and preparing for their futures—true examples of the Portrait of a Graduate initiative in action.
