Omro Schools Honor Local Veterans

Veterans Day is a time to thank those who are serving or have served and are still with us. This day holds special meaning for service members of our community and they were honored once again this year at the different schools. At the high school and middle school, Mrs. Sabel and the middle school peer leaders greeted the veterans and handed out flag pins to all donated by one of the veterans.

High school seniors, Maddie and Lainey introduced the guests and speakers for the assembly and helped welcome and recognize our veterans and community members.

Mrs. Clinch's 7th graders signed as everyone recited The Pledge of Allegiance and Ms. Birenbaum lead her choir students in singing The National Anthem.

Middle school students, Brynn and Sofia were the winners of the Veterans Day Poster Contest, and the High School recognized poetry contest winners Adessa with “A Thank You To Our Veterans”, Max with “The Debt”, Kendall recited “To You” and first place winner Mallory read “The Fabric of Freedom”.

Mr. Dave Lemieux from our Local 234 American Legion, presented winners with coins from the Legion. He also presented our Tech Ed teacher Mr. Weber, with the Teacher of the Year award.

Veterans were honored with the playing of The Armed Forces Medley, by the Omro High School band led by Mr. Rohan. Thank you notes were shared with the veterans created by students, a moment of silence was had, and finally TAPS was played by OHS student Eli.

To all the veterans who came and to those who couldn't be there in person, it is because of your sacrifice, commitment and willingness to put your life on the line for strangers that we owe you so much. Thank you for your service... you are valued beyond measure and you have our everlasting gratitude.

Conference Math Meet

Omro High School recently hosted and participated in the Conference Math Meet. OHS had two teams compete, placing second and sixth out of eleven teams.

The math meet consists of students taking four individual 15-minute tests followed by a team test that takes 20 minutes. Team scores are built from all individual scores and the team test score. Individual scores are the sum of all of their individual scores and are compared amongst all of the students' scores.

Omro had several individual award winners, with Sawyer and Ethyn earning Second Team All Conference and Orion, Vincent, Addie, and Lexi earning Honorable Mention All Conference. Congratulations! It was great to have so many students willing to engage in mathematics on a Monday evening!

Congratulations Ms. Benbo and the OHS Yearbook Program!

Jamie from Jostens stopped by this week to personally present our yearbook advisor, Ms. Benbo with a plaque honoring her and Omro High School's yearbook program for achieving the National Yearbook Program of Excellence 2025 award at the Gold Level. The National Yearbook Program of Excellence recognizes engaging yearbooks that reflect a broad representation of the student body while helping students to develop 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, and information and communication technologies (ICT) literacy. Jostens’ National Yearbook Program of Excellence Awards are presented twice a year, in spring and in fall based on the yearbook’s arrival date at the school. The award was presented to the Omro High School yearbook program for achieving defined criteria in between one and three of the following categories: creating an inclusive yearbook, generating school engagement, and successfully managing the yearbook creation process.

Congratulations again to Ms. Benbo and her yearbook team. Your hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed!

Athletics and Activities Attendance Policy (Condensed):

Students must attend the full school day to participate in practice or competition. To be eligible on a day with an absence:

  • Step 1: A parent must notify the office 24 hours in advance. For emergency medical appointments, parents must call before 8:00 AM the day of the absence. A medical note is required upon arrival.

  • Step 2: Student collects an excused slip from the office with the medical note.

  • Step 3: Student gives the excused slip to their coach/advisor before participating.

Student Athletes and Families- We Want to Hear From You

Dear student-athletes and families, The WIAA Calendar and Contact Ad Hoc Committee is evaluating the start and end dates of the season, as well as the maximum number of contests that can be scheduled. The committee would like your feedback regarding potential changes and invites you to complete an anonymous survey. We want to hear your thoughts and experiences, so it's important that you answer based on what you think and feel. Please answer honestly and independently, without being influenced by others. Your unique perspective is valuable to us. https://dgsurveys.com/r/WIAA2025 The survey will be open through November 26, 2025, and should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Thank you in advance for your participation! With Fox Pride, Jon Tomaszewski

Omro Powerlifting Needs Your Help!

Our current record boards are outdated and show only our past lifters who competed in the "equipped" divisions. This means that they wore squat suits, bench suits, and knee wraps to assist with their lifts. For the past several years, our powerlifters have only participated in the "raw" divisions, which means they do not wear the assistive equipment. We want to continue honoring those lifters who competed equipped by keeping their records in the weight room, but we also want to honor our lifters who have set records in the raw divisions. And that's where we are asking for your help. Please consider making a donation to the Omro Powerlifting Team to help pay for new record boards. The cost of two new record boards (one for boys, one for girls) comes to a total of $710. Any money donated above the $710 will go into the Powerlifting activity account to be used for other costs throughout the year.

You can donate by making a check out to School District of Omro.

Please write "Powerlifting Donation" in the memo line by November 25 and return the envelope to the high school office. Thank you!
