The Strategic Plan - Getting Better with Each Go Round
The Superintendent's Blog
How do we get better? It’s a question that can feel like getting on an endless merry-go-round. Without a good system in place, you risk finding yourself spinning in circles instead of spinning upward.
More than thirty years ago, Millard asked the same question. We found the answer in strategic planning. Many large organizations have a strategic plan. What sets us apart is that we’ve kept our plan at the center of our orbit. We don’t just ask the question; we have a system in place to help us find an answer and put it into practice to benefit students.
That is how we developed the Millard Instructional Model in 1992, which standardized Millard’s teaching across all of our 35 schools. It's how we turned the focus to data analysis in 2007, digital learning in 2014, and a new emphasis on career and technical education in 2019.
The best part is the strategic plan comes from you. The plan is rewritten every five years by a committee made up of our students, parents, staff, and community members.
Today our focus turns toward maximizing our systems to ensure high levels of academic achievement and growth for all students, becoming a district of choice for students, staff, and families, and telling our story so everyone understands what we are working to accomplish. You can learn more about our strategic plan through the video and additional information below. Thank you for being a part of Millard! We are excited to help your students get better every day.
