The Cannon Connection
2025-2026 Newsletter for Cannon Elementary Families
September 14-20, 2025
Good morning Cannon families,
What a fantastic week at our school!
Our new 5th Grade Safety Patrol members did a great job helping everyone get in and out of their cars safely and with a smile. It's wonderful to see them step up as leaders on campus.
We were also excited to welcome students from Grapevine High School's PALS program, who spent time supporting and connecting with our younger students. Their visit was a great reminder of the strong community we have here in Grapevine-Colleyville.
The highlight of the week was our first 2025-2026 STEM Hall of Fame Ceremony. We celebrated our students' incredible creativity and hard work, honoring their innovative projects and designs. We can't wait to see what they create next! To enhance our small group collaborative instructional practices at Cannon, students in all grade levels are engaging in STEM Design Challenges to apply their problem-solving skills to real-world scenarios. Additionally, this week Officer Smith brought patriotic insight, which was both educational and inspiring, to student groups. It was a week filled with leadership, community, innovation, and patriotism. We're so proud of all our students!
Congratulations to our 4th and 5th grade STEM Habit of Mind Hall of Fame Inductees for Applying Past Knowledge STEM teaching and learning is an instructional approach to learning and development that integrates the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Through STEM education practices, students develop key skills including: problem solving, creativity, and critical analysis. We are PROUD to honor our scholars for exhibiting STEM thinking, and we can't wait to celebrate our next group of inductees this Friday.
If your scholar is selected, your teacher will reach out to you with ceremony details about the specific date and time for each grade's ceremony. We hope you will join us in celebrating our young innovators!
Please help me give a BIG THANK YOU to Networking For Purpose! They have provided Cannon Elementary with a monetary gift to support our STEM teaching and learning mission for our Cubs! We sincerely appreciate the generosity and support!
A HUGE THANK YOU to the wonderful volunteers from 121 Community Church! This past weekend, their "Serve Day" crew dedicated their time and energy to our school. They completed several landscaping projects and planted new flowers, making our campus look beautiful. We are so grateful for their generous support and commitment to our community.
As a reminder, Monday, September 22 is a Staff Professional Day - No School for Students!
Proud to be your principal,
Dr. Tina Garrett
