Welcome to an exciting new school year! We are thrilled to welcome both our returning families and those joining us for the very first time. A new school year brings fresh opportunities to learn, grow, build friendships, and create lasting memories, and we can't wait to begin this journey together.

This year, we are excited to continue Blazing a Trail of Excellence as we work together to help every student reach their fullest potential. Our dedicated teachers and staff have been hard at work preparing classrooms, planning engaging learning experiences, and creating a welcoming environment where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to succeed.

We believe that the strongest schools are built through meaningful partnerships between home and school. Your encouragement, involvement, and support make an incredible difference, and we look forward to working alongside you throughout the year.

Thank you for trusting us with your children. We are honored to be part of their educational journey and can't wait to see all that they will accomplish this year.

Here's to an amazing school year filled with learning, growth, and unforgettable moments. Together, let's make this our best year yet!

Welcome back, Trailblazers—let's lead the way together!

Building Resiliency Building Resiliency

At Wildlight Elementary School, we're committed to Blazing a Trail of Excellence by building resiliency in our students each month. Resilient learners grow into strong, compassionate leaders—and this month, we're focusing on Citizenship.

One of the key traits of resiliency is citizenship—the ability to positively contribute to a community by showing respect, responsibility, kindness, and integrity. Resilient students understand that their actions impact others, and they take pride in making choices that help create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for everyone. They recognize the importance of working together, following expectations, and being active members of their school, home, and community.

When students develop strong citizenship skills, they learn the value of empathy, cooperation, and service. They become individuals who look for ways to help others, stand up for what is right, and take responsibility for their actions. These qualities not only strengthen our school community but also prepare students to become thoughtful, engaged citizens who make a positive difference wherever they go.

Ways Families Can Strengthen Citizenship at Home:

  • Encourage your child to help with household responsibilities and contribute to family routines.
  • Talk about the importance of treating others with kindness, respect, and empathy.
  • Look for opportunities to volunteer or serve others as a family.
  • Model good citizenship by following rules, being honest, and showing respect for your community.
  • Discuss ways your child can include others and be a positive friend at school.
  • Encourage your child to take responsibility for their actions and learn from mistakes.
  • Celebrate moments when your child demonstrates kindness, responsibility, honesty, or helps someone in need.

By intentionally fostering citizenship, we help our children develop the resilience, character, and compassion they need to positively impact those around them and continue Blazing a Trail of Excellence.

Attendance Matters! Attendance Matters!

At Wildlight Elementary School, attendance matters! Each month we will highlight the grade level with the highest daily attendance average.

Infographic titled "Attendance in the Early Grades" explaining the importance of consistent school attendance in kindergarten and first grade. The infographic is divided into three sections: Who Is Affected, Why It Matters, and What We Can Do. It states that missing just 10% of the school year—about 18 days or two days per month—can negatively impact academic achievement. Colorful illustrations of students at desks, books, school buses, health symbols, and graphs accompany statistics showing that 1 in 10 kindergarten and first-grade students are chronically absent, with higher rates among low-income, homeless, and transient children. A chart highlights that students with strong attendance are significantly more likely to read on grade level by third grade. The final section encourages families and schools to improve attendance by engaging families, addressing transportation and health barriers, and tracking attendance data. The infographic is branded by Attendance Works.
