WETWANG CE PRIMARY SCHOOL

WEEK ENDING 6TH MARCH 2020

WETWANG CEPRIMARY SCHOOLWEEK ENDING 6TH MARCH 2020

'Learning and growing in the love of God.' (1 John 4:16)

LEARNING

Our new half-term is well underway and everyone in school is eager to learn. These are our new Topics in each class. You will already have noticed your children talking about their learning and making links with previous learning.

Class 1 - Is it about the life of pets and animals and how we look after them?

Class 2 - Or perhaps exploring Ancient Greek life and reading mythical stories? (See below)

Class 3 - Or have they been explaining about wonder of the universe and human exploration?

LISTENING TO YOU

As part of our work on curriculum development we are very interested in stickiness of knowledge in our pupils. It would be very helpful to us if you could spend some time talking to your children about the range of different subjects they learn in school and whether they can remember previous learning. Do they recall what they learnt and can they make links between subjects?

What is sticky knowledge?

Sticky knowledge is effectively knowledge that will stay with us forever. In other words, an alteration has happened to our long-term memory.
We could divide sticky knowledge into two main parts. Firstly, interesting facts that will remain with us forever and secondly, knowledge that individuals need to learn as part of the National Curriculum.

CHANGING THE WORLD

Our recent Big Question was 'What sort of things can we give up for Lent??'

What does your child think about the issue below?

WORLD BOOK DAY

Very proud of our pupils' fantastic reading skills every day. Thank you for your support of World Book Day and for the amazing costumes.

CHURCH, GOVERNORS AND COMMUNITY

As part of our work in RE and the wider curriculum we are focussing on Judaism this year. We have a Judaism Week coming up (w/c 23rd March) and we are very lucky to have arranged a visitor from the Sinai Centre in Leeds who is coming into school to talk about her faith and share with the children some artefacts which are significant in the Jewish religion.
