PSAT Day of Information
On Tuesday, October 13, 2026 Westfield High School will once again administer College Board’s PSAT exam to all Grade 9-11 students. The PSAT is a practice test for the SAT, and is also the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Exam for Grade 11 students.
- Students will report to their testing rooms by 8:45 AM on October 13th. For most students, they will test in their CORE Advisory rooms. Students with College Board-Approved Extended Time will report to a different assigned room.
- The PSAT is a digital exam, and students must be prepared with their fully-charged Chromebook and charging cord. They should also bring pencils, snacks/drinks for break time, and a calculator if they wish. (A Desmos calculator is built into the exams.)
Students with standard time on the exam will be released around 11:40 AM. Students with Extended Time accommodations may leave when they are done, and have met at least standard time, which could be between 11:30 AM and 12:55 PM.
Students with transportation may leave the building after their testing room has been dismissed. If parents will be picking up, they may do so at Doors 1, 2, 3, 9 & 32.
Buses will be available to return students home, and will leave at the end of the testing block, at 1:00 PM. Students taking the buses home will wait in the main cafeteria until the buses leave WHS at 1:00 PM.
- Seniors who are not registered for the School Day SAT on October 13th will not attend school, but will have an excused day to participate in an educational activity, such a job shadowing, visiting colleges, completing college applications, or earning community service hours.
For more information about the PSAT, including the Student Readiness Check on October 5th, test preparation, and the score release date, please see this PSAT 2026 Information Sheet.
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please reach out to your student's counselor.
PSAT Preparation
The PSAT will be given at WHS on October 13. Students can take a few simple steps to feel more comfortable and prepared on test day.
Our top recommendations:
- Take an official full-length practice test in Bluebook to become familiar with the digital format.
- Review missed questions and focus on 2–3 areas that need the most practice.
- Use Khan Academy’s free Official SAT Prep for targeted practice in math, reading, and writing.
- Become familiar with the Desmos calculator and Bluebook testing tools before test day.
- The night before, charge your Chromebook, get a good night’s sleep, and avoid cramming.
A little consistent practice is more helpful than trying to study everything at once.

TalkingPoints-Family Communication
Westfield Washington Schools use a program called TalkingPoints to communicate with families! TalkingPoints allows for seamless multilingual two-way communication between teachers and families. Families can choose to receive messages via SMS text messaging or through the free FAMILIES | TalkingPoints mobile app for Apple or Android.
This platform has enhanced translation capabilities, so families can receive and send messages in their preferred language. Additional tools like speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and closed captioned videos make this program accessible to all of our Westfield families.
The most important thing you can do to ensure you are receiving messages from your child’s teacher is to make sure your contact information for the “Father” and “Mother” fields in PowerSchool is correct. When a teacher sends out a message, TalkingPoints will automatically use those two phone numbers. If you’d like to add additional contacts, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
