All Around the School . . .
Music and More! Last night, RNHS's annual spring concert was held in the PAC! The evening featured selections from the band, the strings ensemble and the chorus, as well as dramatic pieces performed by the theater department. Thank you to all the performers and the Music, Theater and Arts Department for such offering such a special night. More photos here!
Leaders in the making! On Friday, starting with his personal history as a baseball player and base-stealer, Dr. Walker moved into the qualities of powerful leadership, including leading from where you are and owning your actions and decisions. The engaging session ended in a Q & A session in which the students found out that many years ago, before becoming an NCAA Division 1 basketball referee, Dr. Walker refereed a high school tournament featuring LeBron James! Huge thanks to the PTSA for making this incredible event happen! See the pics.
Bringing Home the Gold! Congratulations to Gianna Stracuzzi for earning gold in the annual competition hosted by SkillsUSA, a national professional organization that serves students enrolled in career and technical education programs. This partnership works to ensure that America has a skilled workforce. In the organization's first EVER Culinary Quiz Bowl, our own Gianna Stracuzzi earned a gold medal!!! Congratulations, Gigi!
Live on Stage!! On Sunday, Musical Theatre & Acting classes went to 54 Below to perform a musical we've been working on in class, Canvas, written by Ryo Kamibayashi. The musical was followed by a cabaret performance. 54 Below is right in the heart of Broadway--a very special place to perform. See the pics.
SADD's last event of the year! Today was Alcohol Awareness Day at Rye Neck HS. Members of SADD turned the Senior Lounge into a living lab! Students helped themselves to free mocktails and then used sobriety goggles to pin the tail on the panther, catch a ball, walk a straight line and stack cups. These activities were designed to demonstrate alcohol's impact on driving and even the simplest tasks. More pics here!
