Ms. Huezo

Q: How long have you been a teacher at PMSA?

A: This is my first year teaching at PMSA.

Q: Classes/grade levels that you have taught while at PMSA?

A: This year I teach Math 2 Honors. My students are mostly sophomores but there are freshman in my classes too.

Q: What activities and/or sports/clubs do you sponsor?

A: I am mentoring the Robotics club. The team had a successful year and did well at the Midwestern Competition. In the past, I have sponsored math club and sponsored students to the state science fair.

Q: What do you love most about teaching here at PMSA?

A: This is a great group of teachers to work with. They are very supportive and collaborate. This makes it a wonderful place to come to work each day. Students work very hard and want to do their best.

Q: What is your most memorable moment while teaching here at PMSA?

A: This year being my first year, I really enjoyed the musical and the black history assembly. There are so many talented students here and the productions were amazing. I hope to attend more events next year.

Q: What is an interesting fact(s) that many do not know about you?

A: I used to be an aerospace engineer. When I teach math, I reflect back on when I learned the math. I think did I learn this concept in high school or college. I want to provide my students with the same opportunities I had in high school, and I know what math helped me succeed as an engineering student. I enjoying applying math to solve problems as an engineer and I enjoy teaching math applications.

Q: What book(s) are you currently reading for pleasure?

A: I am currently reading a book about teaching called Powerful Teaching. It reminds me of the teaching I see teachers here at PMSA implementing. I recommend a fiction book series that I read earlier in the school year. Octavia Butler wrote Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents. She actually predicted much of what is happening this year in our country. She predicted in the 1990's what could happen in 2024 and 2025. She must have been a good student of history. Things often repeat themselves in history.

Q: Anything else you would like to tell the school community about yourself?

A: I am hopeful that at PMSA I might one day teach engineering classes like Aerospace Engineering. I would be very fortunate to teach both math and engineering here.

Jesus Ramirez

Jesus is a sophomore at PMSA. He is currently a member of the National Honor Society.

Q: What is your most memorable moment as a student at PMSA?

A: My most memorable moment at PMSA is hanging out with my best friend in Physics class.

Q: What do you love most about PMSA?

A: I love the teachers; they are very relatable. They also make time to put in extra effort to help when students are struggling.

Q: What are your plans post high school?

A: I want to go to college and major in Computer Science. I eventually want to start my own company.

Q: What is your number 1 college choice?

A: Yale University.

Q: What is your favorite subject(s)

A: Literature and History.

Q: What is your favorite book?

A: Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger.

Q: What is something interesting about yourself that you want to share with the PMSA school community?

A: I love my mini–Golden Doodle, Booga.

Jared Sanchez, a dedicated member of the PMSA band program and a student at Merit School of Music, has been accepted into the Chicago Musical Pathways Initiative (CMPI).

This is a significant milestone—not only for Jared, but for PMSA as well. Jared is the first music student from our school to successfully audition for this highly competitive program. Jared’s accomplishment sets a meaningful precedent and paves the way for future students to aim higher and pursue similar opportunities.

When asked about her recognition, Jared said, “I feel so honored to be able to be a fellow in Chicago Musical Pathways Initiative. I am beyond proud of myself to have gotten into one of the best music programs in Chicago. Music has changed everything for me, and I hope now being in this program, it will continue to shape me into the great musician I aspire to be.”

Octavia Butler escribió Parable of the Sower y Parable of the Talents.
