PHS College & Career Corner

Spring is just around the corner and our calendar is in full bloom! Break out of your comfort zone and start attending events at the high school, online, and on-site at many colleges. Learn from seniors who have been through dual enrollment, understand what career opportunities are available in cosmetology, and decipher the true meaning of financial aid language from the professionals at PHEAA.

PHS Shout out: With college representatives starting to visit again, it can be intimidating signing up or asking questions. We had 4 amazing sophomores attend a session with Harrisburg University this week. They asked insightful questions, researched the school in advance, and demonstrated Lion Pride!

On Thursday, March 7th during I/E, Mr. Chambers from the Chrome Institute of Cosmetology, will speak to our students about the field of cosmetology, owning and operating a salon, preparing for licensure, and how to start your career! Please register through Naviance to attend this event.

1. College Fair | Neumann University: April 17th

2. Main Line Villanova College Fair: May 22nd

Attending college and career/trade school events is an excellent way to learn about what postsecondary options exist for you! While you can do individual campus tours, we know that they are filling up quickly (and the weather has not been cooperative lately). Therefore, registering for an open house allows you to speak with people from all departments - financial aid, potential areas of study, athletics, etc. - as well as current students. Here are some events that have recently been shared with us, but search websites of places you are interested in attending for updates!

Kutztown STEM : April 13th

Penn College of Technology: April 7th

You're starting to get answers from colleges, but where do you go from here? Come see your counselor or Ms. Allen for support, know that we celebrate with you, acknowledge feelings of disappointment, and hope you recognize how wonderful you - you are more than a single decision, and have much to offer wherever your next steps might take you! We believe in you!
