Wiggin Street Parent Update
March 13, 2026
Better Together
Dear Wiggin Street Families,
We hope you are doing well and staying safe during the high winds. We hope everyone still has power. I've included pictures of our Lost and Found this week, as our collection continues to grow with the changing weather.
Our 5th Grade Battle of the Books Team is gearing up for their competition on Tuesday, March 24 at 6:00 p.m. in the High School Auditorium. Students should arrive by 5:30 p.m. On Monday, the team will participate in a practice scrimmage in front of our 3rd–5th grade student body. They have worked very hard during practices, and we are proud of their dedication. We wish them the best of luck!
Don't forget that our Literacy Night is this coming Thursday, March 19 from 6:30–8:00 p.m. Food trucks will be available from 5:00–8:00 p.m., and you can check out the menus below. It will be a fun evening featuring a visit from author and illustrator Troy Cummings, literacy activities in each grade level area, and a camping-themed gym where students can “Read Under the Stars.” Each student will also be able to choose a book and flashlight to take home.
Lastly, please remember that Friday is a Teacher In-Service Day, so there will be no school for students.
Best wishes,
Christy Grandstaff
Principal, Wiggin Street Elementary

2026-27 Class Lists and Teacher Requests
Creating class lists is a thoughtful process that involves many factors. Our teachers meet with the next grade level team and other staff members who work closely with students to ensure that classes are balanced. Academic needs, social-emotional needs, and peer dynamics are just a few of the considerations used in this process. This work also continues throughout the summer as we become aware of new enrollments. For these reasons, we believe it is best to wait until August to share final class lists.
If you have an educational reason for requesting a teacher, please submit your request in writing by email to me at cgrandstaff@mvcsd.us no later than May 1, 2026. Also, if you know that your child will not be attending Wiggin Street next year, please let us know as soon as possible.
4th Grade Science with Mr. Zarley
Tennis Coaches Needed
Mr. Steve Tier is working to start an After School Tennis Club for students in grades 3–5 at Wiggin Street and other elementary schools. If you are interested in coaching or assisting, please contact him at stier@mvcsd.us.
Ideally, volunteers would have a child in third, fourth, or fifth grade, unless they are interested in coaching students above their own child’s grade level. Thank you for considering!
Ohio State Practice Test and Information for Families
As students in grades 3-5 prepare for Ohio State Tests that will take place in April, it is always helpful for parents to understand the expectations for their child. This site offers families a practice test and information to better familiarize themselves with the tests.
Community Bulletin Board
Community flyers can be found on our district website here. Check them out!
Lost and Found
The weather is unpredictable during the spring which means more lost and found as we transition from coats, hats, and gloves to rain jackets and sweatshirts. Please remind your student to check the lost and found for items you are missing.
