Major's Minute
We pray that you had a great Labor Day weekend!
The photo above doesn't do justice for the comedy of the moment. While playing games with the family on Labor Day, we looked over and saw Celestine on this inflatable, enjoying his time relaxing. If you saw this in person, you would laugh at how sunken in he really was in this slowly deflating bed.
It was just a hilarious moment!
As we're now back in to the "swing" of things and into Fall - let's keep this short and simple:
1) Sometimes, you just need a good laugh. Surrounded by family, you are always supported.
"How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!" Psalm 133:1
2) Sometimes, when not paying attention, you don't realize that you're sinking.
"Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life." Proverbs 4:23

We will no longer use the Remind App for church communications. Instead we are trying a system through GLOO. The texts will be from TSA Santa Clara. FAMILY FELLOWSHIP SUNDAY - September 7 (NOTE the change of date)
Family Fellowship Sunday is now Sept. 7th, YES, NEXT WEEK, instead, due to a scheduling conflict with the ARC. This is not going to be a typical Sunday. We will still have songs of praise and the Word of God shared. However, after our short service, we'll be joining in fun on the volleyball court and BINGO. This is a great opportunity for all of us to invite our friends and family to come for a more relaxed Sunday to introduce people to our church. Come in relaxing clothes to enjoy our version of "church at the park". We will also be serving a simple lunch.
You'll be tempted to leave, but we ask that you stay and dedicate at least the same amount of time as a regular church service from 10:30 - 11:45. We are designing this specifically for families to invite others and to have time to know each other better. We have great people in this church - walking through different journeys. We pray you'll see the value in connecting with each other intentional and will take advantage of this opportunity to pray and play together.
Santa Clara First Baptist Church Volleyball Tournament
We have enjoyed having a young adult volleyball fellowship for almost 2 years now. This past May we hosted our in in house Salvation Army tournament with 5 teams participating (Concord, Modesto Red Shield, Redwood Glen, Salinas, and Santa Clara. It was so fun and tiring!!
Another opportunity is here. All volleyball players! As a church, The Salvation Army Santa Clara, has joined the Santa Clara First Baptist Church Volleyball Tournament. We will be joining the ranks of 60 plus teams playing from September 7 - November 9. We will be playing from 5 - 6 pm on these Sundays, best out of three wins. We need a minimum of 6 player, ages 13 and up and people to come and cheer the team on! It'll be a fun time to meet other churches and let people know that, YES, The Salvation Army is a church! :)
Event Information
Our first field trip this year is a special trip to Darlene Rowe's place in Rio Vista for a quick swim and/or BBQ relaxing pool side. Please let Desiree know if you plan to attend by 2/14 and if you'll need a ride. We plan to meet at the church to carpool together. The plan is to be back by 3:30 pm. We're looking forward to this next year with you!
Blessings from this past week
