Dear NES Families,

We have several important events coming up and want to share a few reminders with you:

  • APTT Meetings – Our first Academic Parent-Teacher Team (APTT) meetings will be held next week. Please plan to arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to your scheduled start time. These meetings provide families the opportunity to learn and participate in their child’s learning. Teachers will share key grade-level information and effective home practices that can support student success.

  • Start With Hello Week – Next week is Start With Hello Week! Please see the flyer below for our daily themes. We look forward to seeing our students and staff celebrate kindness and inclusivity all week long.

  • SAC & Title I Meetings – Our School Advisory Council (SAC) will meet on 9/18 at 3:30 PM. The Title I Meeting will follow at 4:30 PM. This is a great opportunity to learn about Title I, review our school improvement goals, and provide input on initiatives and funding.

  • Grandparents Day – We had a wonderful time celebrating Grandparents Day! It was exciting to bring back this special opportunity for students to spend time with their grandparents. We appreciate all of the families who attended and helped us build a love of reading with our students.

  • STEM Early Release Day – Our students had a great learning experience with hands-on activities centered around STEM during the recent early release day. It was inspiring to see their excitement as they explored problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s education.

With gratitude and positivity,

Mrs. Jessica Lowe, Principal

Mrs. Heather Briney, Assistant Principal

Energy Bus Energy Bus

This week’s focus: Positivity is Powerful!

Just like Jon Gordon reminds us in The Energy Bus, our thoughts and words create the energy we bring into each day. When we stay positive, we help ourselves—and those around us—feel encouraged and ready to succeed.

Family Activities to Try at Home:

  • Positive Post-Its: Each family member writes one encouraging note and sticks it somewhere (bathroom mirror, fridge, lunchbox) to brighten someone’s day.

  • Gratitude Game: At dinner, go around the table and share one thing that made you smile today.

  • Family Cheer: Create a short family “energy cheer” to use when someone needs motivation (for example, “Go Smiths, Go!”).

  • Energy Check-In: Ask your child, “What kind of energy are you bringing today?” and help them think of ways to shift from negative to positive if needed.

Together, we can fill our bus with positive energy and keep it rolling forward!
