District Spelling Bee
Congratulations to Lia and Noah W in 5th grade as they will be representing Edmondson as they compete in the District Spelling Bee competition on January 31st! They worked hard and we're all rooting for them at the district competition! Go Stallions!
Congratulations to Mrs. Suit!
We are very pleased and honored to be able to announce that one of our teachers has been chosen as the Rotary Club's teacher of the month in February.
A very warm congratulations to Kyla Suit. She will be highlighted at the next Rotary Club meeting:
"Kyla Suit has been an educator for over 25 years. She has been at Edmondson Elementary for the majority of her time serving as a 3rd Grade teacher. Her unique approach to teaching allows for robust relationships that have students coming back for years to talk about their experiences with her. She is a beloved member of our school community with a unique perspective having taught from the rise of computers and computer labs, through five presidents, and hundreds of students.
One activity that Kyla does yearly with her students is a multiplication ice cream party. For every number of multiplication that a student shows mastery of they earn an additional topping for their prize. Students love this tradition and look forward to it when they enter 3rd grade. Another tradition that sets Kyla apart from other teachers are the paper cranes that she folds by hand for each student’s birthday. Her read-alouds pull students into the worlds of the stories and inspire a love for reading.
While Kyla has taught for multiple years, at heart she is still back in year one. Finding new ways to reach her students and holding strong to her fiery and fun loving nature. While things have changed with multiple principals and staff members coming and going, she has remained a steadfast cornerstone of our learning community. It simply would not be Edmondson Elementary with Mrs. Suit and 3A."

Colorado READ Act Parent/Guardian Survey
We would like to hear from parents about your child's experience with the Colorado READ Act and its observed impact.
As you may know, the Colorado READ (Reading to Ensure Academic Development) Act provides funding and a framework for improving literacy outcomes for kindergartners through third graders, particularly those with “Significant Reading Deficiencies” (SRDs) who are at risk to not read at grade level by third grade. The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) has been working with WestEd and its partners to conduct a legislatively mandated evaluation of the READ Act since March 2020.
The survey should take no more than 10-15 minutes to complete, and all responses will be kept confidential.
- We are only asking you to complete the survey if your child has ever been identified as having a significant reading deficiency (SRD) and/or has ever been given a READ plan.
Thank you in advance for your participation in this parent survey. We greatly appreciate your time and willingness to share your experience. Please click the link below to participate in the survey.

District Illness Letter
Many illnesses are currently circulating in the community, and several students throughout
Thompson School District have developed symptoms of illness including: fever, cough, runny
nose, and sore throat and/or vomiting or diarrhea over the past few weeks. Our district has
taken steps to prevent further spread by increasing cleaning and disinfecting, encouraging
frequent hand washing and following other recommendations of the Larimer County
Department of Health and Environment.
Respiratory Illness
Symptoms of respiratory illness begin suddenly and can include fever, headache, chills,
body/muscle aches, extreme tiredness, cough, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Respiratory illness is easily spread from person-to-person through the air by coughing or
sneezing. An infected person may spread illness before having symptoms and several days after
becoming ill. Children and staff with weakened immune systems can develop more severe
illness and serious health complications.
Gastrointestinal Illness (GI)
Symptoms of gastrointestinal illness (stomach bug) often include vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal
cramps, and nausea. Many GI illnesses can be spread from person-to-person through the fecal
matter. An infected person may spread illness before having symptoms and several days after
becoming ill. Children and staff with weakened immune systems can develop more severe
illness and serious health complications.
What to do
● For respiratory illnesses, stay home from daycare, school, or work until 24 hours after
fever has resolved without the use of fever-reducing medication.
● For gastrointestinal illnesses, stay home from daycare, school or work until at least 24
hours have passed with no diarrhea or vomiting. Some schools may extend the exclusion
time if there is an increase in these specific symptoms school wide.
● For strep throat, please keep your student home for at least 12 hours after starting
treatment and until the student feels well enough to participate in class.
● Check with your daycare provider, school or workplace regarding additional exclusion
recommendations.
● Wash hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and warm water.
● Remind students and staff to cover their noses and mouths with a tissue or their arm
when coughing or sneezing.
● Avoid touching the eyes, mouth, or nose.
● Clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces frequently.
● Consult with your healthcare provider for testing and treatment options as well as
annual vaccines for prevention of illness.
● If you have questions talk to your healthcare provider or contact the Larimer County
Department of Health and Environment at 970-498-6708 or comm-disease@co.larimer.co.us.
electrónico comm-disease@co.larimer.co.us.

TSD Code of Conduct
The Board of Education believes that effective student discipline is a prerequisite for sound educational practice and productive learning. The objectives of disciplining any student must be to help the student develop self-discipline, responsibility, respect for self and others, and socially acceptable behavior.
All policies and procedures for handling student discipline shall be designed to achieve these broad objectives.
The Board, in accordance with applicable law, has adopted a written student conduct and discipline code based upon the principle that every student is expected to follow accepted rules of conduct and to show respect for and to obey persons in authority. The code also emphasizes that certain behavior, especially behavior that disrupts the classroom, is unacceptable and may result in disciplinary action. The code shall be enforced uniformly, fairly and consistently for all students.
Student discipline shall be carried out with dignity and empathy. To ensure equity in discipline, schools will strive to eliminate disproportionality in discipline, reduce exclusionary discipline, create a positive school climate and culture, and incorporate social emotional learning, shared decision-making, positive behavior interventions and supports, and restorative practices.
All Board-adopted policies and Board-approved regulations containing the letters "JK" in the file name constitute the discipline section of the legally required code.
The Board shall consult with administrators, teachers, parent/guardians, students and other members of the community in the development and review of the student conduct and discipline code.
The purpose of this resource is to outline student rights and responsibilities and provide the guidelines/rules which make up the "Discipline Code" for the Thompson School District. Policies covering information required by law to be communicated to students and parents/guardians are listed in this document. Questions concerning this document may be directed to individual building principals, the Directors of Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or Student Success, or the district superintendent.
25-26 Free and Reduced Applications
Dear Parents/Guardians:
For the 2025/26 school year, the Thompson School District will provide access to no-cost meals for all students through the Healthy School Meals for All program.
Research shows students perform better at school when they are not hungry. By providing access to breakfast and lunch for all students at no cost, we better support their learning.
Although all students will receive access to no-cost meals, it’s still important for households to provide their income information when requested. Gathering this information allows the Thompson School District to receive the state and federal funding we qualify for. These funds go directly to schools to help cover the cost of meals and support after-school activities and other nutritional programs for students. Plus, qualifying households may be eligible for Summer EBT benefits, receive discounted or waived school fees, class materials, utilities support, and more. Providing household income information ensures you and your school receive all available financial support. ***All household income information is confidential and will not be shared without your consent.***
The attachments contain more information on the free or reduced-price meal application and instructions on applying. While the following pages may reference eligibility for free or reduced-price school meals, access to breakfast and lunch will be provided free to all students regardless of household income.
Our school meals follow U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines for healthy school meals. You can be confident your children are getting quality school meals while saving your family time and money.
Use the link below to apply online, or you may pick up a paper application at any TSD school or the Support Services Center and return or mail it to 2890 North Monroe Avenue Loveland, CO 80538.
