The Weekly Splash

Dear Donald STEM Academy Families,

As we continue to work together to keep our morning arrival safe and efficient, we would like to remind everyone of a few important carpool procedures.

Please refrain from having your child exit the vehicle on the passenger side whenever possible. We do not always have a staff member available to safely escort students around the vehicle, and this can create unsafe situations in the flow of traffic.

Additionally, on extremely cold mornings, it helps the line move more efficiently if students are able to open the car door and exit independently. Please practice this skill at home so your child feels confident doing it on their own.

For safety and efficiency, we also ask that parents remain in the vehicle at all times during drop-off.

Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our Dolphins safe and our carpool running smoothly.

One Pod, One Purpose!

Mrs. Kenely

Proud Principal of Donald Elementary 🐬💙

We encourage you to take a few minutes this week to fill out a Recognize Someone form! This is a wonderful way to share your appreciation for a teacher, staff member, or even our Principal or Assistant Principal. A few kind words can go a long way in brightening someone’s day and reminding them of the impact they are making.

Each year, Donald partners with the American Heart Association to participate in the Kids Heart Challenge. Over the next month, students will learn about how to make heart healthy choices and how to stay active - including how to jump rope! We will also be learning life-saving ways to help others when suffering a heart attack or stroke.

On Friday, 2/6, we kicked off our campaign with school-wide assembly where our very own Donald Jump Rope Team performed and our very own Heart Hero, August French was spotlighted.

Your donations to the AHA during our campaign allows for lifesaving community education and research for kids like August. You can register your student at www.heart.org/KHC or download the Kids Heart Challenge App. Just by registering, your child gets a wristband. Your student will also be bringing home a flyer with all the campaign info.

Additionally, upon request we will have scheduled a second skate night at Interstate Roller Rink in Lewisville on Friday, 2/27. If you purchase your ticket through our sales site, proceeds will go towards our Donald Kids Heart Challenge Campaign. More information about that as it approaches.

If you are wanting to attend your child's field trips, help with events, or volunteer on campus you MUST have a VOLY background check complete. It is a very easy process and nice to get out of the way early before it's too late!

Lewisville ISD's VOLY site is open and ready to accept volunteers for the 2025-2026 school year. All volunteers on LISD campuses must have an approved background check on file. LISD uses LewisvilleISD.voly.org to post volunteer opportunities and to process background checks. Please go to the site and either create an account or update your account from a previous year. VOLY also has an app! You can find it in the app store for either Apple or Android products. Be sure to select that you want to work with Lewisville ISD. We look forward to having you on campus as a volunteer soon!

The annual Chin Cultural Festival is scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 19 at Lewisville High School’s Stuver Auditorium, starting at 6:00p.

The festival is free and open to the public. Members of the LISD community are encouraged to attend and be immersed in this unique cultural event.
