St Anthony's School News

Week 9 - Thursday 28th March 2024
Principal's Message
As we embrace the holiday season, I extend warm wishes to our St Anthony’s School community. May your time with family be filled with joy and cherished traditions during this Easter break. Please take this opportunity to recharge and return well-rested from your school holidays.
Today, our Year 6 students led the school in a Stations of the Cross. I would like to thank our Year 6 students and dedicated staff members, Mrs Tania King, Mrs Lisa Elvin, and Miss Kate Gellé, for leading us in this liturgy. This reflective journey reminds us of the profound significance of faith and compassion, whilst also serving as a reminder of the sacrifice that Christ made for all.
Yesterday it was great to see our Year 5 students participating in the Whadjuk Gift, showcasing our school’s commitment to embracing diversity and difference. The Whadjuk Gift is an initiative by Mater Dei College which combines Indigenous sport, creative design and culture. I am sure the students all had a great time. Thank you to the team at Mater Dei College and to our Year 5 teachers along with Angela Walker for organising this enriching experience.
Over the past week, the P&F have been extremely busy with community events. Last Friday’s school disco was a resounding success and it was great to see the community come together, in what was a fun-filled night for all. We extend our thanks to the P&F for their planning and to all the parent volunteers who assisted on the night. These dedicated parents exemplify the St. Anthony’s Way, nurturing positive relationships within our school and beyond.
I would also like to thank the P&F for organising the Easter Raffle. Your efforts bring joy to our students and foster a sense of togetherness. Congratulations to all the winners; I hope you enjoy the spoils!
As we move into Term 2, it is important to remember that the students change uniforms for Terms 2 and 3. If you have not already done so, please take some time to familiarise yourself with the winter uniform. For details, visit the below link and head to the School Uniform Procedure.

On Tuesday, our school participated in an evacuation drill. As a school, the safety of our students, staff and community members is paramount. Practising these procedures helps our school remain vigilant and prepared in case of an emergency.
On April 18th, in Week 1 of the upcoming term, St Anthony’s School will recognise Autism Awareness Day. Throughout the month, we will aim to share stories and provide opportunities to increase understanding and acceptance of people with autism and foster worldwide support. As a school, we will show our support for this day by all wearing blue.
I would also like to extend a warm welcome to Mrs Christina Smith. Christina will be stepping in for Janine Maitland who will be taking leave during Term 2. I would also like to acknowledge Miss Carmel Mohen, who will continue in Year 4 while Mrs Marie-Anne Bond continues her leave.
Let us continue to be a guiding light for our students, nurturing their spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and physical growth. Together, we illuminate the path ahead, just as our motto suggests: “A light beneath our feet.”
Best wishes and God bless

Sport News
We are thrilled to announce the outstanding performance of St Anthony's School Swim Team at the recent NIPSSA Interschool Swimming Carnival held on Tuesday, March 19th, at HBF Stadium in Mt Claremont. Our talented swimmers showcased their incredible skills and determination, narrowly missing out on the top spot by a mere 3 points, securing a commendable second place overall. Each and every student demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship and dedication, making both themselves and their families immensely proud with their outstanding performances in the pool. Their hard work and commitment truly shone through, demonstrating personal best as part of our PADUA values that defines our school community.
Thank you to the staff, SEDA students and supportive parents whose assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you to Hannah Berlingeri for coordinating St Anthony’s Swim Club, undoubtedly the training that the students receive at Swim Club contributed to the commendable achievement of our students. Together, as a united school community, we celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of our talented swimmers and look forward to continued success in the pool.
