Principal's Update
Change in Dismissal
We kindly ask that you notify the school (christine.warren@norwellschools.org & the classroom teacher) by 12:00PM if there are any changes to your child(ren)'s dismissal plans. We are experiencing a significant uptick in last minute changes, and such changes require us to interrupt classroom instruction to notify students of the change. We understand that unexpected situations arise, and will always notify children of changes, but greatly appreciate your cooperation in minimizing the amount of classroom interruptions.

Updates from Nurse Kristen
It is that time of year when we start to see lots of bugs around the school, please see the following guidelines for when your child should stay home and return after being sick.
Fever (>100.0° Fahrenheit or higher), nausea, vomiting, diarrhea:
Stay home until 24 hours after symptoms resolved AND fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.
If your child has vomiting/diarrhea, they must be out of school for 24 hours from the last occurrence and feeling up to making it the school day; often, it can take a day or two after a stomach virus to feel up to the whole school day.
If your child has flu-like symptoms, they must be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication and feel better enough to make it to school.
If your child has tested positive for COVID, they may return when they are fever-free for 24 hours and feeling up to returning to school; a mask is optional during those 5 days after testing positive.
Thank you for helping keep our school community healthy this cold and flu season.

Vinal PTO
Some Vinal students did something very cool last week - they presented to the Norwell School Board to share recent updates from the Vinal PTO!
Every year, the Norwell School Board invites Vinal to share updates about the school. Mr. T, Mrs. Egan, teachers, and some awesome students spoke about some of the recent in-school initiatives. The Vinal PTO was also invited to share some updates.
We shared information about photos about the Giving Event in December that allowed Vinal students to participate in their families' gift-giving tradition (for free). Special shout-out was given to all the great volunteers who made this event happen.
• August Perniola & Tommy Sullivan shared about the Dad's Hockey Event and expertly painted the picture of that great event--the excitement of the game, the playfulness of having Blades there, and the generosity of all of the volunteers, donors, and auction purchasers who helped the event raise over $19K!
• Tessa Maratea & Emmeline Hughan gave an update on the recent Crocodile River Music assembly, art installation, and drumming events. They explained why this event was so informative, exciting, and just plain fun!
Speaking in such a formal setting can be so intimidating (even for adults) and these kids did a wonderful job being brave and informative. Thank you to their parents for supporting their participation!
