A few words from Principal Rico
Hello Everyone,
A strong message we communicate to incoming BFA students is to get involved. Currently, we have more students involved in BFA athletics, clubs, and student leadership than ever before. The Collins Perley Sports Complex also reports that they have an increased student participation. Having student participation is essential in improving BFA. With all of the avenues for involvement comes the challenge of creating a healthy commitment balance. As a result, last year BFA created involvement guidelines for student leadership groups as a way to support healthy commitment as well as to encourage a diversity of voices. Since the guidelines have been used, our Student Leadership numbers have increased to 138 student participants. The guidelines state that a student can be a member on no more than 2 leadership councils. This guideline does not include clubs or athletics.
Currently, BFA is looking for students who would like to participate. All you need to do is fill out the membership agreement and turn it in by this Monday 11/3 to Mrs. Tourville. Included are attachments below on the various groups, the agreement, as well as a link to an article that explains the effects of over commitment.
Please reach out if you have any questions. Have a great weekend.
Polly Rico

Spotlight on Students Outside of School - Sophia Oszurek
We are very proud of the accomplishments of Sophia Oszurek, a senior at BFA beyond the academic classroom. From the sixth grade through her senior year, Sophia Oszurek has spent her Saturdays honing her computer science skills at the Girls Who Code program at UVM. All of that dedication paid off early this year when she was named an affiliate winner for her computer coding initiatives. Congratulations Sophia! Please click on link below:
Sophia has been an active member of her local Girls Who Code at the University of Vermont for five years, making her one of the longest-standing members. She's proud of having delved into various coding languages and platforms including Scratch, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, Arduino-C, and Swift to create entertaining and interactive projects. She hopes to go to college for a job in the medical field. Looking ahead, she aspires to develop interactive and educational websites and games utilizing her diverse coding skills.
