A Note from Mrs. Pitts

Dear RES Families,

I want to thank everyone who could attend the Room Parent Training we held on Tuesday this week. The training link is below and it may be helpful to all families as there are some links to ideas for healthy snacks and other resources for party planning! Additionally, I want to recognize and thank ALL OF YOU who have volunteered and will volunteer to help our teachers in celebrating so many events throughout the year.

Thanks for your support!

LUNCH IN THE CAF LUNCH IN THE CAF

We are ready to invite you now that we HOPE we are fully staffed!:)

We invite one family member at a time to have lunch with their child(ren) as we really do get quite tight at certain lunches. This is very optional and we don't want families to feel pressured to attend. This is an occasional event as we do want children to build independence and social skills in the cafeteria, a perfect time for this!

  • Email resoffice@sau50.org if you would like to attend with the date/time. It is important to anticipate who will be in the building. We love these opportunities for students and their family members but we will always put safety first.
  • Adults must bring their own lunch and can bring lunch for their own child.
  • We do have a focus during this time...eating for energy and brain power!
  • Family members must meet the child in the cafeteria and leave from the cafeteria BEFORE we line up all the children.
  • Days for family visits are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Lunch times are:
  • Kindergarten-11:45-12:10

    First Grade-12:15-12:40

    Second Grade-12:15-12:40

    Third Grade- 11:15-11:40

    Fourth Grade-11:15-11:40

EVACUATION DRILL EVACUATION DRILL

Important Points:

  • We will be conducting an evacuation DRILL on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. The purpose of this drill is to ensure that our students and staff are well-practiced in our emergency protocols.
  • We will take our students and staff to the Rye Public Safety Building.
  • All students and staff (except Preschool students, PreKindergarten students, facilities, an SAU 50 administrator, and kitchen staff) will leave Rye Elementary School on a bus and travel to the safety building on this day if they are present at school.
  • The drill will be conducted in a way that is age-appropriate and supportive, with staff guiding students through each step of the process.
  • This is a wonderful time to double check that anyone who can pick up your child in the event of an emergency is listed in PowerSchool. We will NOT dismiss children to adults in a real emergency who are not identified on this list!
  • Families will receive TWO forms of communication on this day so we can check our systems. These will BOTH come from the Office of the Superintendent. One will announce that we have started our evacuation DRILL and the other will come when we have all returned to RES and are back to learning. Please expect these two emails on this day and there is no need to respond.
  • PLEASE do NOT come to the safety building. This is just a drill.

All students in grades preschool through grade 4 participated in an All Write event. They were able to spend this time writing about ANYTHING they wanted, create books, poems, stories, share information about their favorite activities or family memories. One child even wrote a GREAT "How To" book about to earn a Rye Riptide sticker! It is one of our favorite activities because children are all doing the same activity as a community, which is amazing to see! Even some of our teachers were writing furiously:).
