Student Safety: Crosswalks and Pick-Up Reminders
As the weather changes and daylight hours shorten, please take a moment to remind your student about using crosswalks and sidewalks when arriving and leaving school. This applies not only at Westridge but also at bus stops. Students should always cross at designated areas and avoid walking between vehicles.
We also ask that parents pull over to the curb when dropping off or picking up students. Please do not stop in the drive-thru lane, as it creates unsafe situations for both drivers and students.
Thank you for helping us keep all Cougars safe!
PTO Dance
The Westridge PTO is hoping to host a fun-filled dance for our students on Thursday, October 30th. With no school on October 31st, it’s the perfect way to celebrate before the break!
However, we cannot make this event happen without volunteer chaperones. Your support helps ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Please take a moment to sign up and volunteer through our Sign-Up Genius.
Let’s make this dance a night to remember!
A huge shout-out to Ms. Petersen’s class for collecting an incredible 990 pairs of socks—the top class in our school! Altogether, Westridge students donated 2,852 pairs to help those in need. Way to show your Cougar Pride through kindness and community spirit!
Red Ribbon Week
This week is Red Ribbon Week, a nationwide campaign to promote healthy, drug-free lifestyles! Each day will feature a fun dress-up theme to show our commitment to making positive choices.
Monday, Oct. 27 – “Follow Your Dreams, Not Drugs!”
Wear your favorite pajamas and get cozy while showing you dream big and stay drug-free!
Tuesday, Oct. 28 – “Team Up Against Drugs!”
Show your spirit by wearing your favorite team gear or school colors.
Wednesday, Oct. 29 – “Too Bright for Drugs!”
Wear your brightest neon or most colorful outfit to show that your future shines too bright for drugs!
Thursday, Oct. 30 – “Lei Off Drugs!”
Wear Hawaiian shirts, leis, or tropical attire to remind everyone to relax, have fun, and stay drug-free!
Please remember: all outfits must follow the school dress code. No hats, fake weapons, masks, or face paint are allowed. Let’s have a great week showing our school spirit and commitment to living drug-free!
Morning Drop Off
Reminder: Please use the designated drop-off lane in the morning so students can exit directly onto the sidewalk. Dropping students off in the drive-thru lane creates a safety concern. Thank you for helping us keep all students safe.
Student IDs
Student ID Reminder
To help keep our building safe and organized, all students will receive a student ID on the first day of school. IDs must be visibly worn on the upper body at all times while in the building.
A few things to know:
-
Students will exchange their temporary ID for a permanent one about a week after school pictures are taken.
-
If a student forgets their ID, a temporary sticker ID can be purchased in the main office for $1.
-
Need a new lanyard? They’re available in the main office for $1.
-
If an ID is lost, students can get a replacement ID and lanyard for $5.
Thank you for helping us keep Westridge safe and running smoothly!
Deliveries at School
We love celebrating our students and understand that special occasions are important! However, to minimize disruptions during the school day, Westridge is unable to accept deliveries such as DoorDash, gifts, or flowers for students at school.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to keep the school day focused and distraction-free!
Dress for Success Guidelines
To help ensure we maintain a positive momentum at Westridge, we wanted to share a friendly reminder about the “Dress for Success” district dress code.
Your students deserve to be confident AND prepared while at school. Part of those preparation efforts include dress code.
Apparel must comply with health and safety codes and not detract from learning.
For all students, mid-thigh to top of chest are to be covered while also concealing undergarments.
Approved religious attire or protective headwraps are approved. At this time, due to safety - hoods, caps, bandanas, durags, etc. are not approved to wear while in school buildings.
IDs must be worn and be visible at all times.
Feel free to explore the full dress code policy on the district website HERE and our handy “Dress for Success” flyers in English and Spanish.
