Veterans Day Thank you!
Today, McMillen High School joins the nation in acknowledging Veterans Day. On Veterans Day, America highlights the service of all members of the United States Armed Forces, both past and present. The military who serve and protect the United States come from all walks of life; they are parents, children, grandparents, friends, neighbors, and coworkers, and are an important part of their communities. We honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
Please help us extend the appreciation to our faculty members and McMillen family that have served our country.

Students Must Wear ID Badges
Dear McMillen Student and Family,
You are receiving this message to notify you that your student arrived on campus without their school issued ID badge, as required by the Plano ISD dress code policy. Your student received a replacement ID badge; the cost for each replacement ID badge is $5.00. Students may pay for their replacement ID badges in the library on Fridays between 8:20 am and the end of the lunch period at 1:16 pm. Any fees not paid for by the end of the month will be added to the student's Rycor account. Unpaid fees on a student account will result in the inability to register for Plano ISD activities and/or view student schedules. Online payments at www.studentquickpay.com can be accepted after the end of each month.
Please remind your student to ALWAYS wear their school issued ID badge.

AVID News
AVID Speakers Needed
Every year in AVID one of our most impacting components of the program is having guest speakers share about their profession. McMillen AVID students are always thinking about college majors, and they love exposure to as many as possible. That's where guest speakers help the most. Whether you own a business, are in the medical profession, the world of transportation, hospitality, engineering, law, human relations, trade professions…we would love to schedule you to speak to our students. They are always interested and have an abundance of questions. If you would be willing to come share your profession with us, or if you know someone who would like to come be a guest speaker in our AVID classes, please contact Mike Abney, our AVID Coordinator, at michael.abney@pisd.edu. Please consider sharing what you do with our students! We're looking forward to hearing from you.

WHAT IS REFLECTIONS ARTS PROGRAM?
- There is no limit on the number of entries per student.
- Questions: email Reflections@mcmillenptsa.org
"What do we win? Is this a contest?"
- This is not technically a contest. It is truly a program created to give students a forum to explore the arts and expand their interests and talents.
Students are individually judged on their project and not judged against the other students.
- They are judged on how well they explain their art fits the theme, the mastery of the medium used, and their creativity.
- Ribbons will be awarded to all entrants, with recognition categories of:
- Award of Excellence (blue ribbon)
- Award of Merit (red ribbon)
- Honorable Mention (white ribbon)
- Top entries will advance to Plano ISD Council of PTAs at the beginning of December for the next level judging with the potential to advance to the Texas PTA and National PTA levels.
