We had another great week at Cool Creek. Today we celebrated our amazing custodians for National Custodian Day🎉! They do so much more than simply keep our building clean. They take pride in Cool Creek and work hard every day to make sure our school is a safe, clean, welcoming place for our students and staff. With a brand-new building, there is always something to clean, fix, move, or figure out, and they handle it all with a great attitude. We are incredibly lucky to have them taking care of our building and helping make Cool Creek a great place to be.

On Friday, October 30, we will be having Fall Parties in all the classrooms from 1:15-2:00pm. We appreciate all who have volunteered to help, but we would like to invite all families to the parties if you are able. In order to join us at our parties you must have a SafeVisitor background check, and you can get one here if you have not already. These are taking a little longer than normal to process, so my suggestion would be to fill it out as soon as possible.

Each year, students in grades 3–8 participate in the state ILEARN assessment. Our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will take smaller “checkpoints” throughout the year and a summative assessment in the spring. The kids have started the practice test.

Transportation is looking for drivers. If you know anyone who would enjoy driving a bus, please send them our way. Westfield Schools is holding a Transportation Job Fair October 13 from 11:00am-1:00pm if you or someone you know would like to learn more.

Our custodians do so much more than keep our school clean. They are the problem-solvers, fix-it experts, mess-makers-into-miracles, and friendly faces who help keep our school running smoothly each day.

We are so grateful for the care, pride, and hard work you bring to Cool Creek. Our school simply wouldn’t be the same without you!

We know many families are still waiting for their school picture packages. Lifetouch has confirmed that the packages, which should have arrived the first week of September, were unfortunately never delivered.

Lifetouch has reprinted and reshipped all packages, and they are expected to arrive at school on Monday, October 5. We will send them home with students as quickly as possible.

We apologize for the delay and truly appreciate your patience and understanding!

Picture Retake Day is the morning of Thursday, October 8. Retakes are available for students who were absent on August 27 or for students who would like to have their picture retaken.

A quick reminder for families: Please communicate attendance information or dismissal changes directly to the school office through TalkingPoints or by phone.

While you are welcome to keep your child’s teacher informed, please don’t rely on a message sent only to the teacher. Teachers may not see messages during the school day, and if a substitute is in the classroom, the message may not be seen at all.

Whenever possible, please send dismissal changes by 1:30 p.m. Changes received too close to the end of the school day can make it difficult to ensure the correct information reaches everyone and may lead to errors.

Our goal is to help you and your student the best we can! Communicating directly with the office and sending changes early helps us maintain accurate records and ensures students get where they need to be at dismissal.

It's hard to think about winter coats when it’s 90 degrees outside, but chilly days will be here before we know it!

Coats for Kids helps provide warm winter coats to children and families in need. Collection bins are available at each of our schools, so as you clean out closets or shop for the season ahead, help us fill the box and share the warmth!

Families who need a coat can register through October 8.

If you think you may want to volunteer, help with a classroom party, join your child for lunch, or chaperone a field trip this year, now is a great time to complete your background check.

Westfield Washington Schools uses SafeVisitor for visitor management and background checks. Because the approval process can take 3–6 business days, completing your background check now will help ensure you're ready when an opportunity comes up. The $12.95 background check is valid for four years and can be used at any WWS school.

Don't wait until the field trip permission slip comes home—check this one off your back-to-school list now!

The Back Sacks Program, in partnership with Open Doors of Westfield, provides weekend food support for families who may benefit from additional assistance. Each week, participating students will receive a small bag of shelf-stable food in their backpack, including two breakfasts, two lunches, snacks, and drinks.

Join us Friday, October 2 from 5:30-6:30 PM for a fun evening with our Cool Creek community before the Westfield High School football game!

We’ll gather by the Cool Creek playground and turf for music, face painting, games, and plenty of room for the kids to play. LuDogs and Kona Ice will be on-site with food and treats available for purchase, or feel free to bring your own dinner, snacks, and non-alcoholic drinks.

Bring a blanket or lawn chairs, relax, and enjoy some food, fun, and community! Families heading to the WHS football game can walk over together around game time.

The tailgate is a FREE PTO event! Admission to the football game is separate, and game tickets must be purchased.

Parking: Please park in the Westfield Middle School parking lot across from the Cool Creek playground.

The Cool Creek Elementary PTO is partnering with Crew Carwash to raise funds that directly benefit our students, teachers, and school community. Fifty percent of the proceeds will support educational enrichment, family engagement events, teacher appreciation, classroom resources, and other initiatives that enhance the student experience. How does this benefit CCES PTO?

Any transactions moving forward using your Kroger Plus Card will be applied to the program, at no added cost to you. Kroger donates annually to participating organizations based on your percentage of spending as it relates to the total spending associated with all participating Kroger Community Rewards organizations.

Transportation is hosting a Drive the Bus event on Saturday, October 3, from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Stop by anytime to get behind the wheel and try driving a school bus, ask questions, and learn more about training and becoming a bus driver.

With a continued need for drivers, this is a great opportunity to see if driving a bus might be a good fit for you!
