Our dual credit students are off to a great start! These students are balancing the expectations of college-level coursework while also staying busy with volleyball, football, cross country, cheer, band, and other activities. We are proud of the way they continue to represent Meridian High School while taking on the challenge of earning college credit.

As coursework begins to pick up, students should be especially mindful of upcoming deadlines, assignments, and exams. Please review the reminders listed below and make sure you are staying current in each of your college courses.

📚 Upcoming Tarleton Exams

  • College Statistics – Unit 1 Exams: September 9 & 10
  • Anatomy & Physiology – Exam 1: September 10

📌 Dual Credit Grade Reminder

Students taking courses through Hill College and Ranger College should check their grades regularly through their college Canvas accounts. Only Tarleton dual enrollment grades will appear in the MHS gradebook. Hill and Ranger grades will not appear on MHS progress reports or report cards.

College courses move quickly, so staying organized and checking Canvas regularly is important.

Keep up the great work, Jackets! 💛🖤

From the Ag Classroom & Shop 🚜🔧 From the Ag Classroom & Shop 🚜🔧

Mr. Pittman’s Dual Credit Welding students have spent the beginning of the school year focused on one of the most important parts of any successful welding program—shop safety.

This week, students were able to enter the shop and begin putting that training into practice as they officially started the hands-on portion of their dual credit welding coursework.

Through their partnership with Hill College, students have the opportunity to work toward the Basic Arc Welding 1-Year Certificate while still in high school. Students can also work toward earning valuable American Welding Society industry-based certifications, including AWS D1.1 Structural Steel and AWS D9.1 Sheet Metal Welding.

This program gives our students the opportunity to earn college credit, develop real-world technical skills, and begin building a pathway toward a high-demand career before they graduate from Meridian High School. We are excited to see their skills and confidence grow throughout the year!
