BHS Happenings
September 2, 2025
Dear BHS Parents and Guardians:
While we are only in the second week of school, there is already so much going on at BHS! Make sure you check out BHS Happenings weekly to stay up to date with what is going on and coming up at the high school.
The add/drop period for students to make changes to their schedule will end on September 4th. If a students wants to make a change to their schedule, they will need to see their school counselor before then.
We hope to see all of our parents and guardians at Open House next Wednesday, September 10th at 6:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity for parents to meet their child's teachers and become acclimated with the rules and expectations of their teachers. Refreshments will be served.
BHS Athletics' Fall Sports Teams start their seasons this week with most teams having their first competition. We wish all of our student-athletes success in their season and encourage everyone to get to a game to support them.
We look forward to keeping you updated weekly on everything BHS!

Annual Financial Aid Night at BHS
Our Annual Financial Aid Night will be held on Tuesday, September 23, at 6:00 p.m. in the BHS Library. Higher education can be a costly investment. We encourage all families to attend this session to learn about the different types of financial aid available to help fund your child’s education.
The FAFSA will open on October 1st. In preparation, please be sure to create your FSA ID if you haven’t already done so.
Cell Phone Policy
In order to create the best possible environment for focus, learning, and personal growth, cell phone use will not be allowed during the school day. Students will be required to store their phones in their lockers. This includes iPads, MacBook's, etc. Students will be required to use school issued devices. All students will be issued a school Chromebook for their use during the school year. They will also receive a locker already equipped with a lock to ensure the safety of their belongings during the school day. If a student is found with any of these items, they will be confiscated by security and only returned to a parent/guardian. This decision is rooted in our belief that our students deserve a distraction-free environment where they can fully engage with their teachers, classmates, and learning. We appreciate your support in reinforcing this policy at home.
Student Absences
All student absences should be reported the day of the absence to BHS' Attendance Clerk, Jenny Maron. Absences can be left on the attendance line by calling the high school and following the prompts or by email at jmaron@blmfld.org. Please be mindful of your students absences and tardies as they do generate attendance points unless they are excused. Students lose credit in full year classes after accumulating 10 attendance points and in semester classes after accumulating 5 attendance points.
College and Career Fair Opportunity
The Southern Connecticut College & Career Fair will be held on Tuesday, September 30th from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
