The Musselwhite Memo

Happy Friday, AMS families! Thank you for another great week! For tonight’s football game at Tim Buchanan Stadium vs. Denton High School, kickoff time is 7 pm. We are anticipating inclement weather (rain and cold temperatures) and want to make sure you know the inclement weather evacuation procedures in case lightning and/or a storm necessitates it. Evacuation procedures are for all fans in the stands to return to their cars; therefore we ask that you do not drop off middle school students off at the game unattended and keep your elementary students with you at all times during the game. We hope you will come out and cheer on our Bearcats, but also want to make sure everyone is safe.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. Remember to be the difference and have a great Bearcat Day!

Native American Heritage Month

November is Native American Heritage Month - a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people. Native American Heritage Month is also an opportune time to educate the general public about tribes and unique cultures. We will have inspiring words of wisdom through daily announcements and classroom activities throughout the month of November!

Parenting University - November 16

Aledo ISD's Parenting University presents a free screening of the newly released documentary film Screenagers: Elementary Edition.

This updated version of the original Screenagers movie addresses issues that are specific and targeted to the parents of elementary school-aged kids and the challenges they are facing - parenting challenges like when to get kids smart phones, how much screen time is enough, unhooking from and monitoring video gaming, social media pressures, and exposure to screens at too young of an age.

What research shows is a healthy amount of screen time, as well as other practical solutions for parents, is included in this film! This is a must see for parents of young children trying to navigate the tech-crazy world kids are growing up in today!

Attendance Matters in Aledo ISD!

As a reminder, we have streamlined absence reporting for all of our campuses for this school year. It is very important that we have documented reasons for absences so that we can ensure your student is given an excused absence when needed.

Bearcat of Character Bearcat of Character

We are proud to honor our Bearcat of Character for Open Mindedness, 6th Grader - Elliot Skinner. Elliott consistently shows open-mindedness in class discussions and activities. He is always willing to consider new ideas and perspectives, even when those ideas differ from his own. His ability to listen respectfully to his peers and thoughtfully reflect on different viewpoints greatly enhances classroom conversations. His openness to learning from others shows a mature and adaptable mindset, which will serve him well in future academic and personal challenges

Lunch Deliveries

In the event that you need to deliver lunch to your student, please follow the steps below:

  1. Please be sure that the lunch is clearly labeled with your student's first and last name.
  2. Upon entering AMS, please place your student's lunch in the bin assigned to your student's grade level lunch.
  3. The bins will be delivered at the start of each lunch period. Students will be responsible for getting their lunches from the bin.

Again, we request that you limit lunch deliveries when possible. Also, in order to limit distractions, we will not call students out of class to receive lunches.

Thank you for your help with this!
