South Central Friday Flash

To say South Central was busy this week would be an understatement! We have worked, and wrapped up lessons, and sang, and partied, oh yeah, and ran the Grinch out of the school!

If your child came home talking about the Grinch trying to steal our holiday spirit, they were not making anything up! This morning we had a visitor who went around just seeing what he could sneak off with. Good thing that Santa happened to be stopping by and ending his shenanigans with the help of the Canonsburg Police. I tell you, it is never a dull moment in this place.

We try to capture the fun so our families at home can see what we are talking about but that is sometimes hard to push out in just this Friday Flash. The PTO has a Facebook page, South Central PTO 2023-2024, where they post a ton of information (you do not have to be a PTO member to join the page). I also use one called South Central Splash also on Facebook, where I recently posted videos from our holiday concert with the CMHS and our school-wide sing-along. Check them out!

Thank you to everyone who participate in our donation drive for the Washington County Humane Society. Our goal was $400 and we almost met it! We will be making a cash donation of $350 in addition to many items brought in such as food, collars, leashes, and toys.

Whale Done to everyone who helped with this drive and especially to Ms. McCullough who organized us and SRO Fetcko for delivering the donation this weekend.

It has been easier for me when someone is leaving not to say “good-bye” but “until we meet again” instead. That is how I will deal with the fact that when we return in January, a big part of the South Central family (for many years) will not be with us. Today was Miss Belinda’s last day as our head cafeteria server. She will be with the High School students, who will be excited to see her, I am sure! Thank you for loving us and filling our bellies for 10+ years, Miss Belinda. WHALE DONE!

I have said it many times before, because I honestly feel it. There is no place like South Central. The students are loving and compassionate, because they learn it from you at home. We appreciate your generosity and the time you give your family as well as the school.

Thank you to the PTO for providing fun room parties for the children today, when you have so many things on your plates right now.
