Lincoln Lowdown- 3/10/25
Women's History Month!
Let us recognize!
Dear Lincoln Families,
March is Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate the achievements, resilience, and contributions of women throughout history and in our own community. At Lincoln Middle School, we recognize the importance of highlighting diverse voices, fostering curiosity, and empowering our students to learn from the trailblazers who have shaped our world.
This month, our students will have opportunities to explore the impact of women in various fields, engage in meaningful discussions, and reflect on the values of equity, leadership, and perseverance. We encourage families to join us in celebrating and learning together by sharing stories, engaging in conversations, and recognizing the remarkable women who inspire us every day.
Thank you for your continued partnership in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all.

Lions in Action!
We’re excited to announce that spring sports tryouts are officially underway! Students have the opportunity to try out for soccer, volleyball, and track, and we encourage everyone to come out and give it their best.
Additionally, the tryout that was canceled due to rain has been rescheduled for Tuesday at 3:00 PM at JAMS. Please make sure your student is prepared and arrives on time.
As we kick off spring sports, we also continue to cheer on our winter teams, including basketball and e-sports, as they finish their seasons strong. We are so proud of our student-athletes for their dedication and teamwork!
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to an exciting season ahead!
Lions Leading- Culturally Responsive Teaching Practices!
Thank you!
We are thrilled to recognize Mrs. Hoffman and Mrs. Hartson for their innovative approach to student engagement through culturally responsive teaching! Understanding the influence of gaming culture, they used the Blooket platform to bring learning to life, allowing students to play Crypto Hack as a way to assess their understanding in an interactive and meaningful way.
By integrating students’ interests into the classroom, they created a learning experience that was not only fun but also fostered deeper engagement and critical thinking. This is a wonderful example of how our teachers value student experiences and leverage them to make learning more relevant and impactful.
Thank you, Mrs. Hoffman and Mrs. Hartson, for your dedication to meeting students where they are and making learning exciting!
Important Info
At Lincoln Middle School, we are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all students. Recently, Rob Howard, SMMUSD’s Director of Restorative Practices, spoke with our 8th graders about the importance of being sensitive and respectful to all individuals, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender.
Despite this, we are still hearing concerns about students using the word "gay" in ways that can be offensive, even when intended as a joke among friends. While some students may not realize the impact of their words, it is important that we continue to reinforce kindness, respect, and the power of language in creating a positive school culture.
We kindly ask for your support in speaking with your student about these expectations. Reminding them of the importance of treating all peers with respect will help prevent misunderstandings and ensure our school remains a place where everyone feels safe and valued.
Thank you for your partnership in nurturing a school community where all students can thrive. We appreciate your ongoing support!
