The Lemonade War
Thomson Estates Elementary- One School, One Book
Dear Parent/Guardian:
This month our school will be embarking on a special project, an all-school book club called One School, One Book. One Book One School is a program that children at all grade levels read or listen to the same book, at the same time. Every family will receive a copy of the same book, The Lemonade War, by Jacqueline Davies. We are asking you to make the time so your family can participate in this special activity. Reading aloud at home is valuable because it better prepares your child to be an effective reader. It is also a fun, worthwhile family activity. Through our One School, One Book program, we aim to build a community of readers at our school. Everyone - students, parents, teachers, and administrative staff - will be participating and we can all reap the many benefits of building family and community literacy. Your child(ren) will receive his/her copy of the book on January 20th. When the book comes home, a tailored reading schedule with activities will be included so you can keep up at home. We have selected a title that can be followed, understood, and enjoyed by younger students and also captivate and stimulate older children. You will be asked to read the book with your family once a week during the months of November and December. Your student will also hear this theme in their classroom meetings, morning
First Family Challenge ~ We Are A Lemonade School!
You will be asked to read the book with your family once a week during the months of January and February. Your student will also hear this theme in their classroom meetings, morning announcements and during other lessons throughout the day. Please make sure your family reads the book to guarantee they can participate in the schoolwide activities and conversations.
Good luck! With your help, we can build a Community of Readers in this school.
