In the Science Lab 🔬

Students at Highland Middle School and Johnston Elementary School have been doing a lot of science experiments recently, and much of what they're studying relates to Earth's surface. 8th-grade students at HMS explored the water cycle, and Johnston 4th-graders have been learning all about the different types of soil. They will be experts by the time Earth Day comes around!

Celebrating Best Buddies at Southridge

This month, our Best Buddies program at Southridge was presented with an award for being named the New School Chapter of the Year in Indiana for 2025! Best Buddies brings together special and general education students, promotes an inclusive environment, and, quite frankly, is a ton of fun. We are very proud of everyone involved in this awesome initiative.

Future Musicians 🎷 🎻 🎶

Our 5th-graders were recently visited by HHS Band, Choir, and Orchestra students to introduce them to their programs, and they even got to try out some instruments! I went and visited Johnston, and it was amazing to see both how excited the 5th-graders were and the great leadership skills of our HHS students. Parents, watch out - your house may get a lot noisier very soon!

Winter Athletics at Highland High School have now concluded, and we've got some fun facts to share about this past season!

  • Across Basketball, Swimming, and Wrestling, we had a total of 5,896 fans attend our home games. This is up from 5,077 in the 2024-25 school year!
  • There were around 150 athletes on our teams.

We also had incredible success in Girls Wrestling, and many records were broken in Girls Basketball and Girls Swimming and Diving, as mentioned in February's newsletter.

It was a great Winter Athletics season at HHS this year, and your support has helped make it one to remember. Go Trojans!

Mrs. Bensinger's 5th-grade Art Class at Merkley Elementary School recently made some awesome dragon eyes! They used Model Magic clay to sculpt the eyes, and then they very meticulously painted them. It was super fun, and all of the students should be very proud of the great work they did.
