Where Are We At With Enrollment? Where Are We At With Enrollment?

Because of the large number of families who enrolled this year, and because it was the first year that Mrs. Bradley and Ms. Becky worked on enrollments there was a huge learning curve for us! We thank you for your patience as we worked out the kinks. Each family was offered an enrollment appointment where Mrs. Bradley or another staff member went over expectations, calendars, etc. and answered any questions families may have had.

GSRP rules state that at certain intervals, the income level of students who qualifies increases. At this time, any family in the community who is still looking for free four year old preschool slots is strongly encouraged to visit Argentine's enrollment page, where there is information on the process and links for the two applications that have to be completed. Students must be four before December 1. We do still have a handful of four-day half-day slots and a couple of five-day full-day slots available. There are minimal five-day full-day slots for three year olds available as well.

It's Getting Colder Outside! It's Getting Colder Outside!

We will still go outside unless it is below freezing. Please make sure that your child comes to school each day with outerwear appropriate for the weather. Once it snows, all children will need a coat, snow pants, boots, gloves and a hat every day. If it is easier to just leave these items at school, please let us know to keep them here. If your family is in need of assistance with warm weather clothing for your child please reach out to your child's teacher.

What About Halloween? What About Halloween?

We do not celebrate traditional holidays at Argentine; instead we have events like our Fall Festival on October 30. Families are invited to join us at 10:45 and 2:45 (check with your child's teacher for which time your child's class will be attending) for the Fall Festival Jamboree.

What is Jamboree? What is Jamboree?

Jamboree is a fun time for children and families to come together and sing some of our building's favorite songs. Each month, a different class plans and hosts the Jamboree. Some classes participate in the morning session and others participate in the afternoon session. On certain days, such as Fall Festival and Winter Festival, families may be invited to join in on other classroom activities beforehand so it is always best to check with your child's teacher on specific arrival times.

My Child Is Sick- Now What? My Child Is Sick- Now What?

Notify Your Child's Teacher

Please call your child's classroom to report an illness.

How Sick is Too Sick?

  • Fever over 100 degrees Fahrenheit (with or without fever reducing medication) within the last 24 hours
  • Vomiting, diarrhea, upset belly within the last 24 hours
  • Rash of any kind within the last 24 hours
  • Persistent cough, green snotty nose, etc.
  • Illness diagnosed by a medical professional as being contagious, until medically cleared to return
  • A great rule of thumb to follow is: If I have to give my child medication to feel better, or if my child isn't well enough to play outside, he or she isn't well enough to come to school.

Why Does My Child Keep Getting Sick?

It can often be very frustrating to parents when their young child seems to be sick every other week. But this is a part of establishing healthy immune systems, and is actually a good (albeit inconvenient) thing! For many children, preschool is the first time they have been exposed to so many germs. Young children inherently put things in their mouths, touch their faces, etc., which leads to the sharing of all kinds of yucky germs.

The classrooms are cleaned daily. Tables are washed before and after meals. And we'll establish frequent handwashing routines right from the get-go. You can help by reinforcing these habits at home and by keeping your little one home when they're under the weather. If your family chooses to vaccinate, flu and covid vaccines are available from most pharmacies and doctor's offices, often free of charge.

How can I help at home? How can I help at home?

It is very helpful to engage your child in the following activities as often as possible!

  • Read to and with your child. Identify familiar words around your home and around town.
  • Practice identifying letters, especially those in your child's name
  • Practice opening lunch items
  • Practice putting on/taking off jackets, boots, mittens, etc.
