School Attendance Matters:

Consistent attendance ensures students master reading by third grade, develop crucial life skills like responsibility, and are 2.5 times more likely to graduate.

Reviewing Online Safety with Children:

Technology and social media is very popular even with the elementary aged students. Online safety is a topic broached by our computer teacher, Adam Fitzpatrick. You are encouraged to have an intentional conversation with your children about what they encounter online. Below are some preventative measures you may consider to do with your child’s electronics.

  • Set privacy settings for all social media and gaming applications

  • Keep video games and YouTube watching in shared family spaces

  • Set up video game restrictions to friends only

  • Set up “restricted” mode on the YouTube for your child’s account so inappropriate content is not available to them to watch

  • Remind students to talk to a trusted adult if they ever question something that they see on technology.

State Assessment Time:

All third and fourth grade students will be completing the South Dakota Assessment in the areas of English/Language Arts and Math. We ask to please make appointments around the testing schedule to minimize students having to make up their tests during instruction time. Students will be assessed 4/14 to 4/17. They will be testing in the mornings on these days with any makeups being covered in the afternoons.

Animals at dismissal:

For the overall safety of students during the busy time at dismissal from school, we ask that you do not bring your animals on school grounds during dismissal.

In the month of January, third grade classes competed against each other in the Reflex Challenge. Students were encouraged to achieve their green light each day as the program tracked and tallied the totals. To earn their green light, students have to quickly and accurately answer rapid-fire multiplication and division equations. This practice helps to develop fact fluency, making their answers come as quickly as a reflex. This year's winning class is Mrs. Williams with second place going to Mrs. Stagner.
