Principal's Message Principal's Message

As we look ahead to the 2026-2027 school year, our counseling team has been hard at work meeting with students to finalize course requests. This is always an exciting season of transition, and I am thrilled to share some significant expansions to our academic program that reflect our commitment to diverse student interests and future readiness.

Expanded Career Pathways

We are proud to announce the addition of new career pathways, bringing our total offerings to eight. These pathways are designed to give students a head start on their professional journeys through specialized, sequenced coursework. For a deep dive into the specific course sequences and opportunities within these tracks, please visit our website here.

New Advanced Placement (AP) Opportunities

To further challenge our students and provide more opportunities for college credit, we are introducing three new AP courses for the upcoming school year: AP Business with Personal Finance, AP Drawing, and AP Precalculus.

25-26 School Year Chronic Absenteeism Goal

Finally, a quick update on our school-wide goal to reduce Chronic Absenteeism to under 10%.

As of today, our Chronic Absenteeism rate stands at 10%. This is 1.1% higher than our February numbers and just above our 25-26SY goal.

Historically, spring season often brings a slide. Let’s keep our eye on the prize. Every day in the classroom is an investment in your child's future. Let’s continue to encourage our students to be present in mind and spirit every single day.

With Husky Pride,

Mr. Garcia

Rosie W. (Grade 9) and James R. (Grade 12)

It is truly a pleasure to recognize Rosie & James as our Students of the Month! Here is what their teachers had to say about each when nominating them for this honor.

Rosie embodies the academic tenacity and grit we strive to instill in all our learners. By taking full ownership of her education, she has distinguished herself as a true classroom leader. Most notably, she organizes student study sessions and asks the kind of insightful questions that benefit the entire group. Her commitment to growth is further evidenced by her habit of meticulously applying teacher feedback to every subsequent assignment, ensuring constant improvement

It has been a privilege to witness James' growth over the past four years. James truly found his stride during his junior year, transforming into the mature, driven leader we see today. He is a student who brings genuine energy to the classroom, and we are incredibly proud of the path he has carved for himself as a senior.

🐾 Paw-sitive Vibes Coming to DHS 🐾

We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with Creature Comfort to bring certified therapy dogs to our campus! Starting this April, these furry friends will be visiting classrooms to help our students and staff destress, find focus, and boost their overall well-being. Visits will be held on April 13th, 16th, 27th, and 30th.

Although there are many benefits to therapy dogs, we understand there may be concerns. If you would like that your child DOES NOT interact with the therapy dog, please return the bottom portion of the attached letter to the principal by April 12th.
