Welcome Back and welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! It's going to be a FANTASTIC year at GANT!!!

It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to you. I am honored to be joining this amazing school and educational community that is know for it's unwavering support of student success.

My past positions at International Elementary (now Oropeza), Carver Elementary, and Dooley Elementary, have provided me with over 30 years of varied educational experiences. No matter what my role, I always strive to make a difference for kids, to be a champion for all learners, and to help students find pride in learning new things and discovering their talents. Schools and classrooms should be a haven for students to feel joy, love, and safety. I know that Gant is just that kind of place, and I’m lucky to be joining your team.

I look forward to our year together and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share.

TK – 3rd 8:00 – 2:05

4th & 5th 8:00 – 2:10

EVERY THURSDAY TK – 5th Grade 1:30 dismissal

*** TK and Kinder will follow a minimum day schedule for the first 3 weeks of school. All TK and Kinder students will attend school from 8:00-1:00!!!

Dear Gant Families,

Welcome to the Gant community! The Gant PTA is hosting a welcome event for Kindergarten and new families on Friday, September 2nd from 8:15am - 9:45am in the school auditorium.

Back to School Night - Mark your calendars NOW! Meet your child's teacher and find out what your child will learn this year at Back To School Night, Thursday, September 15th from 5:30p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Welcome parents to 2022–2023 school year. We are excited to see you all and meet new friendly faces. We’re in the process of selecting a new supplier for Gant spirit wear. In the meantime, we do have a limited inventory from previous year - girls and boys ranging from small to XL. We are also in the process of setting up an online shop, you will be able to purchase spirit wear online.

Next week, we will sell existing inventory in front of the school Thursday, August 25 8am - Noon and back between 4-5pm. Friday, August 26th 8am - Noon.

If you have gently used spirit wear that you would like to donate, we will sell each shirt for $1. Please bring those items anytime between Monday, Aug. 22 after 2:00pm and next Thursday. We will have a bin outside the main office entrance. The bin will be marked "Gant Spirit Wear - Gently Used".

Get ready for an amazing year of events and programs to enrich the educational experience of our Gators. The PTA has been hard at work planning out the year. Be on the lookout for further communication and ways that you can get involved.

All students are required to wear a uniform at Gant. Our uniform consists of white or red collared shirts or blouses, school spirit t-shirts, and navy blue shorts, skirts, and jumpers. A more detailed description of the dress code can be found in the opening packet that will be sent home with your child.

Parents, please be sure to check your ParentVUE account Friday, August 26, 2022 after 5:00 p.m. to check out your child's classroom *assignment for the year.

*Please remember that there are many variables that go into the careful consideration of the make-up of each class. Your child’s best interest is always our primary concern. Class placements are a team effort and are not final until the first day of school.

We need to know how to reach you! Please make sure you provide the most accurate information to receive texts, e-mails or phone calls, and in case of an emergency. Parents are now required to verify or update their information, including emergency contacts, online in their ParentVue account. We will no longer send home emergency cards. Here are directions on how to update your contact information online:

• Masks will be optional for students and staff.

• Surfaces will be sanitized and cleaned as much as possible.
