OPERATION FULL DOLPHIN POD!
David Elementary is on a mission to increase our attendance! Our goal is to grow from 96.4% to 96.7% attendance, and we need everyone’s help to make it happen!
We know that being at school every day makes a difference in our students’ learning, growth, and success. We also know that when kiddos are sick, they need time to rest and recover at home.
Here’s how you can help us reach our goal:
Come to school every day you are able! Every day counts, and every student makes a difference.
Stay home when you’re sick. We want our students healthy and ready to learn!
Plan vacations during scheduled school breaks whenever possible to help your child make the most of every learning opportunity.
Join the fun! We’ve created an exciting attendance reward plan to celebrate our students for showing up and being ready to learn each day!
With the support of our students, families, and staff, we know we can reach our goal!
Every Day Counts. Every Student Matters. Let’s Make It Happen, David Elementary! ❤️

RED RIBBON WEEK - 10/26-10/30
During the week of October 26th - October 30th, we will join with schools across the nation to celebrate "Red Ribbon Week". Please see the attachment below for the daily themes.
STORYBOOK CHARACTER PARADE - 10/30
On Friday, October 30th, students will dress as a character they admire from a children's book. Start encouraging your child to choose a book, read it, and start working on an appropriate costume. Students will wear their costume and carry the book for the storybook parade. Please do not wear scary costumes, masks, or bring play weapons.
The parade will begin at approximately 8:30-8:45 am and parents are welcome to attend. Please plan to arrive early to allow time for everyone to be in place before the parade begins.
FOOD DRIVE - 10/26-11/6
David Dolphins are learning about the character traits of giving and caring this month! From October 26 through November 6, we invite our families to join us in supporting our community by donating pantry staples and personal care items to benefit Interfaith of The Woodlands. Every donation makes a difference and helps support those in need. Donations may be dropped off in your child’s classroom, and students are welcome to bring items to school. Thank you for helping our Dolphins make a positive impact in our community!
DYSLEXIA FAMILY NIGHT - 10/27
Families are invited to join us for Dyslexia Family Night on Tuesday, October 27, from 6:00–7:50 p.m. at the Walter P. Jett Teaching and Learning Center. GT REFERRALS DUE - 12/17

If you are interested in referring your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher. Referrals are due by December 17, 2026.
If interested in referring your student, please complete both the Google form and referral application below.

Treats that do not meet these guidelines will not be permitted in the classroom. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us celebrate safely!

SAFETY DRILLS
Safety at David Elementary is our top priority. Throughout the year, we are required to hold several drills. Within the classrooms, teachers will briefly talk about these drills.
These drills include the following:
Hold – A hold is used when the hallways need to be kept clear of occupants. Students are trained to clear the hallways and remain in their classroom and do business as usual.
Secure – A secure is used when a threat is outside the building. Students and staff must return into the building and do business as usual.
Lockdown – A lockdown is used when a person or threat is in or on the grounds of the campus. There are no class changes and everyone is to remain in their classrooms. All doors, windows, and classrooms are locked.
Evacuate – This procedure is used when the students and staff need to leave campus for a variety of hazards. This procedure is also used when the students practice a Fire Drill.
Shelter – When in the presence of a hazard to health and safety of the people inside and outside the building, students and staff will Shelter in Place. All windows and doors are locked. This procedure is also used when the school is being threatened by weather. All persons in the building are sheltered away from glass and high ceilings.
If you have any questions or concerns about safety, please call Assistant Principal, Veronica Kiesz, at (281) 298-4707.
2026-2027 VACATION & APPOINTMENT PLANNING GUIDE
Plan ahead for the 2026-2027 school year! From holiday breaks to early release days, now is the perfect time to start planning appointments, vacations, and family activities around the school calendar. Consistent attendance helps students make the most of every learning opportunity.
PARENT PORTAL
Conroe ISD offers a Parent Portal that gives parents and guardians easy access to important information about their child. All parents/guardians will need to create an account to get started. Please use the email address currently listed in your child’s school records. After entering your email, you’ll be prompted to create a password.
For step-by-step instructions, click Parent Portal Directions or go to Conroe ISD Webpage then "Parents/Students" to access the link to the Parent Portal.
VISITORS/VOLUNTEERS
We love having parents involved in our school community! On the first day of school, parents are welcome to walk their child to the classroom. Beginning the second day, however, we kindly ask that goodbyes be said at the front entrance. Our staff will be present throughout the building to assist all students in finding their classrooms safely.
To ensure the safety of all students and staff, all visitors must check in and out through the front office using a current driver’s license or other valid photo identification.
If you plan to volunteer on campus or chaperone a field trip, you must complete the CISD volunteer application online. This process is required each school year and must be completed before participating in any volunteer activities. To complete the application, please visit www.conroeisd.net, select the Parent/Student tab, and click on Volunteer in CISD, or click here: https://www.conroeisd.net/page/get-involved
Please note: To avoid disruptions to instruction, classroom visits during the school day must be scheduled in advance with the teacher.
We appreciate your support in creating a safe and productive learning environment for all students!
SAFETY REMINDER
For the safety of all of our students and families, please do not drop off or pick up students on Shadowbend Place. We understand that it may seem like a quick and convenient option, but stopping or unloading students along the street creates a safety concern for children, pedestrians, and other vehicles.
Please help us keep everyone safe by using the school carline. Our carline is designed to provide a safe, organized, and efficient way for drop off and pick up.
Thank you for helping us make student safety our top priority!
SCHOOL HOURS/ATTENDANCE/TARDY POLICY
*PLEASE REVIEW THE NEW START TIME INFORMATION AT THE BEGINNING OF THE NEWSLETTER *
School hours are 7:55 a.m. - 3:10 p.m. Students must be in their classroom before the 7:55 a.m. bell rings, or they will be considered tardy. Please note that 7:30 a.m. is the earliest time that your child may be dropped off. We do not have staff available to supervise students until that time.
Tardy Policy - A student is tardy if not in the classroom at 7:55 a.m. If your child is tardy, parents must sign him/her in at the front office. When a student is tardy, an e-mail will be sent to the student’s guardian for notification.
BREAKFAST/LUNCH
Parents are encouraged to prepay for their child’s meals at www.myschoolbucks.com. Please allow up to 48 hours for payments to be applied to students’ accounts.
Breakfast is served here at David Elementary from 7:30 - 7:55 am. The price of breakfast is $2.00. The lunch price for regular student lunch is $3.20, and a la carte prices vary.
Please visit: https://www.conroeisd.net/page/child-nutrition-home for menu options and more information.
If sending in cash or checks, please place in an envelope and include the child’s name, ID number and grade to ensure crediting to the proper account. Checks should be made payable to CISD Child Nutrition and include Driver’s License # and Date of Birth.
Free Lunch
If you are interested in applying for free meals, you must complete an application at www.myschoolapps.com. All students who would like to purchase breakfast or lunch, and do NOT qualify for the free/reduced meal program, must pay for meals.
TRANSPORTATION
Students come to school and return home by either bike riding/walking, day care van, bus, or car. Children are dismissed in that order. Parents must tell the teacher before the first day of school how their child will go home each day. Changes in the normal dismissal should be made by calling the front office at 281-298-4700 by 2:00 pm.
BUS INFORMATION
To register for bus service, locate bus numbers, stops, and times, please visit the Transportation section of the CISD website: https://www.conroeisd.net/transportation/. Please check the website before coming to “Meet the Teacher.” Students who live less than one mile from the school will not be eligible for bus transportation to and from school. You should also receive an email from the Transportation Department with information on how to sign up for bus service if your child qualifies. You need to register your child for the bus every year.
CAR LINE
Shadowbend Place and the car line are very busy during morning drop off and afternoon pick up times. Parents, please do not drop off or pick up your children on Shadowbend Place. We have had several near misses as children are dropped off or picked up on this very busy street. If your child is a car rider, please drop them off or pick them up in the car line on the front porch. You will receive a pick-up sign for your child at "Meet the Teacher." Please be sure to put this sign in the front car window for pickup. If your child is a walker, please utilize our crossing guards.
We realize that there are circumstances where you may need to park and walk in with your child. During drop-off and pick-up times, please use the general parking area (not the spaces directly in front of the school) so that both parents and students do not have to cross through the car line.
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES
Changes in transportation should be made by calling the front office at 281-298-4700 by 2:00 pm so that we can deliver these changes before the end of the day.
RAINY DAY DISMISSAL
A “Rainy Day Dismissal” occurs when we have severe weather determined by Administration. Please note that we normally do not determine this until the last few minutes of the day. If a “Rainy Day Dismissal” occurs, biking and walking are not allowed. If you choose to walk up to the school to pick up your student during a "rainy day dismissal," you must pick up your student at the grade level exits located on the east and west sides of the building. Parents of ALL grade level students must have their pickup signs with them during a "rainy day dismissal". Please be aware that if your child is not eligible for bus transportation as noted above, you will need to make prior arrangements for rainy day dismissal transportation. Each parent will complete a Google form that will be emailed to you on Monday, August 10th, to identify the method of dismissal on rainy days.
Please see below for our "Rainy Day Dismissal" FAQs.
SMART TAG FOR BUS RIDERS
We encourage our parents to sign up for the SMART tag™ Parent App, as CISD is no longer providing Bus Hub for communication of bus delays. This app offers real-time updates on their
child’s school bus, including arrival alerts, and notifications for delays or route changes.
It's a reliable and convenient way to stay informed about your child's transportation. The following link provides instructions on how to register.
NO DELIVERIES
For the safety of our students and staff, only deliveries from parents/guardians will be accepted. Any outside deliveries will be refused and sent back. This includes all food, cakes, cupcakes, flowers, candy, stuffed animals, etc. Thank you for your cooperation!
ELECTRONIC DEVICE POLICY
Students may not use personal communication and electronic devices during the school day in accordance with Texas House Bill 1481.
This includes (but is not limited to) phones, smartwatches, tablets, and wired/wireless headphones such as AirPods.
NON-DISCRIMINATION
The Conroe Independent School District (District) as an equal opportunity educational provider and employer does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, or disability in educational programs or activities that it operates or in employment matters. The District is required by Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, as amended, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as Board policy not to discriminate in such a manner.
