A Word From Our Principal
Tuesday, September 1, 2026
Dear GACC Parents and Families,
Beginning the week after Labor Day, GACC will begin implementing the Boys Town Skill of the Week Curriculum.
This curriculum is designed to empower students to be successful while developing strong character. It is a universal approach, meaning it is beneficial for all students and can help them flourish at school, at home, and in the community.
Each week, the entire school will focus on the same social skill, creating consistent language and expectations throughout GACC. Teachers will adapt the lessons and activities to meet the developmental needs of students at each grade level.
Students will learn and practice skills such as listening, following directions, accepting corrections, asking for help, working cooperatively, and showing respect. The curriculum will also teach students how to advocate for themselves in appropriate and respectful ways through skills such as “How to Disagree Appropriately” and “How to Resolve Conflicts.” Teachers will explain, model, practice, and reinforce these skills throughout the school day.
The Social Skill of the Week Curriculum directly supports GACC’s mission: “Our mission is to prepare all children to reach their fullest potential by learning and leading through Christ.” As students learn to treat others with dignity, take responsibility for their choices, express their needs respectfully, and resolve conflicts peacefully, they put Christ’s teachings into action.
This program also supports our vision of creating a faith-filled community where students grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Our goal is not simply to correct inappropriate behavior, but to intentionally teach students the skills they need to become responsible, compassionate, and confident Christian leaders.
Throughout the school year, we will share the skills being taught so families can discuss and reinforce them at home. By working together and using consistent language, we can help our students apply these important skills in all areas of their lives.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Learning and Leading Through Christ,
